Best looking airliner? by Andrew Burke
I'm sure this has probably been asked before. For me, it's the Vickers Super VC10, followed closely by the Boeing 727-200. Andy

Why don't airlines also do charter jets? by Scott T. Jensen
This evening, I watched a documentary on TV about the rise of private jets. During it, they talked about the rise of charter jet companies. These being companies from whom you can charter a private jet from a one-time use to something along the lines of a time-share. Anyway, what struck me odd...

AVIATIONTOOLBOX: I've added your approach plates. by Kyler Laird
Thanks to Dennis Megary at MyAirplane.com, I've added the vector (PDF) approach plates to my collection. http://aviationtoolbox.org/raw_data/FAA/approaches/ There's a lot that I plan to do with these, but for now I have a terribly simple kludge for finding them...

"Trying out" a different insturctor just to see - good idea? Badidea? by GEG
Hi everyone, I'm a student with about 10 flights under my belt. I had an instructor for the first 4 that I really liked. I departed for a while, then had a new instructor that I also really like - but for COMPLETELY different reasons, and I can consider him "acceptable", but not great. I wish I...

Cockpit visit by Icarus
Greetings to all. I have run into a discussion whose answer is not clear. The question, especially since 9/11, and its variant is: Can passengers on commercial flights, during the flight, visit the flightdeck (with captain's permission, of course!)? Essentially, is it the FAA or IATA that makes...

Cessna 152 Rudder trim adjustment? by GEG
Hi Folks, I'm a low-time (10 hour) student pilot. I took my first flights in my school's 152 about 2 years ago, then had an 18-month wait for various reasons. When I first flew the plane, I don't remember the right rudder being such an issue (I flew 3 times 2 years ago). Now, the right rudder...

Considerations for joining flying club by Marty Ross
I'm considering joining a flying club this week. This one's the closest club to where I live, the members, the planes, and the online scheduling system seem to be great, and I think I'm ready to make the commitment (e.g., buy a share in the fleet). Since I've never joined a club before (have...

Renting in Bahamas? by Marty Ross
Anyone know of, or have experience with, renting a plane and instructor from any of the northwest islands in the Bahamas? I'm planning on being there in July and would like to do some sightseeing & flying (I'm PPL/IA). Would rather do typical "FBO-style" instruction/checkout, but if there are...

Honeywell KFC-225 autopilot - what could cause this failure? by Joerg
Hi Peter, The mpeg didn't play for me but just a few thoughts: Since they say they couldn't reproduce it on the ground, could this be a noise issue? Possible sources would be the radio, a transponder transmission, engine ignition, maybe a motor driven trim, fuel equalizer pump if you have one....

Class E extension by SB
I am still confused on this particular issue and was hoping somebody in here could point me in the right direction. I'm sure most of you are familiar with the class E extension from C&D airports to help facilitate instrument approaches. Well here's the question. If I can operate in VMC in the...

Lidle, Langewiesche, and turns by Snidely
On Anderson Cooper 360 about last night, (at least) one of their sources pointed out that to make the tight turn to compelte the u-turn at that altitude and turning left, a very steep bank is needed, and that this can cause a los of altitude -- and the radar returns indicate that 200' was lost...
