writer needs help by wendy
Okay ... you all asked for it and I appreciate your help so much!! I'll just give you what I have so far, and you can tell me if it's right. How's that? 1- Regarding 100LL. I gather from your replies that it evaporates very quickly. But I'm talking about a major flood of it in an enclosed...

IFR in uncontroller airspace by Danny Deger
Has anyone out there ever flown IFR in uncontrolled airspace without a flight plan. I understand there are places out west that still have large tracts of uncontrolled airspace that go up to altitude (14,500 feet??). I am used to it either ending at 700 or 1200 feet AGL. Danny Deger

Crash in Japan by Big John
Evening news tonight (Friday CST) showed a Russian bird crashing at an airshow in Japan. Pilot survived. Clip was over before I could focus on it. Looked like some kind of a jet??? Voice over said he was making a low pass and clipped a pole. No injuries on ground (thank God).

Kissing That Black Ass by EMTAE
BUYER'S REMORSE This one is rather fun to watch. In case you haven't noticed, the Democrat Party is slowly figuring out that things aren't looking all that well for the November election ... at least as far as the White House is concerned. Their messiah has turned out to be somewhat of a...

ah another beautiful day by Kevin Clarke
Woke up this morning and just didn't want to go to work. :-) So I did the next best logical thing, I went to the airport and went flying. Picked up a friend (non-pilot) at Nashua and did some slow flight around his house so he could talk some pics. Around Mt. Monadnock in S. New Hampshire and...

Challenger Accident at Tupelo by Gary Mishler
From Aviation International News: Bombardier Points to Cause of Tupelo Challenger Overrun It's probable that a bent-down microphone jack receptacle near the base of the copilot's control column prevented aft movement of the yoke, causing a Challenger 600 to overrun the runway during takeoff from...

More Than One V-LE (flight with gear extended speed)? by Bruce Mamont
Is it possible to have more than a single V-LE (maximum airspeed with gear extended without damage)? I know that some airplanes have more than one V-LO (max gear operation speed), one for retraction and one for extension. Perhaps there are configurations in which there are different V-LE speeds,...

Mayor Daley was in Town Today by Icebound
For those Toronto-area pilots who may have missed the 6-o'clock TV news today, Mayor Daley was in town today, "advising" Mayor Miller on how to run a waterfront. The bit was *highly* complimentary of Daley's Chicago-waterfront initiatives (complimentary by both the reporter and by Mayor Miller),...

CFI question by Tman
When taking lessons with a CFI, I've often had them compliment various aspects of my performance, while also offering constructive criticism. It seems that this behavior is right out of the pages of CFI training. Here's my question. Does that make the CFI a sycophant, by the formal definition...
