Roll off the top of the Loop by
daniel.bascomb
Does anyone find that when you do a roll off the top of the loop and

Calculating vertical time and distance in a stall turn (US Hammerhead) by
Dave
I've been teaching aerobatics for years but last weekend (after a session of
stall turns) a student said he was surprised at how long we were vertical.
Afterwards it occurred to me that it would be fun/interesting to look at the
sums, later I realised that I didn't know how to DO all the sums!!
If...

I'm due to take a business trip to Rochester soon and it would be good to
find somewhere to either fly some interesting types, to do some aerobatics

electronic G meter by
dave
I'd like to install a g meter in my 7ECA. Does anyone have any experience
with the DA-55? I already have a power connection where it will be
installed from a non-functioning astro-tech clock. Hard to believe that
someone can make an LCD clock that doesn't work.

What video cameras are people using? by
Dave
I'm considering setting-up a video system for aerobatic lessons to
record the stude and the aircraft's attitude - ideally 2 or 3 tracks
concurrently.
What experiences have people had with video cameras during g loading? is
any camera regarded as better or worse under aerobatic conditions?
Has...

Manifold pressure gauge problem by
Dave Russell
The manifold pressure gauge in my Super D is a pain. More acurately,
it's the line that connects it to the engine. Ten minutes of
aerobatics, and I can't get any kind of reliable reading; it just
sticks wherever.
It's easy to fix. A shot of air into the line (back toward the
engine, of course)...

Your opinion about helmets? by
Dave Russell
My parachute rigger has been after me for years to start wearing a
helmet when I'm wearing a 'chute. It always seemd kinda silly...
Today I was in the FBO when one of the local ag pilots got his helmet
back after a rebuild job. He rolled an airplane over on it's back
last year after an engine...

Snaps in the Decathlon by
Dave Russell
My latest endeavor has been to learn to snap-roll the Super D. A
couple of training flights in an Extra 300 proved that I could learn
to fly them, but transferring that experience to the Decathlon has
been humbling. (As an aside, I *strongly* suggest you do not go fly
an Extra 300 when you own a...

Pitts, Acro Sport, other to buy? by
Dave Swartz
"Al MacDonald" wrote in message news:d_54b.111137$K44.17038@edtnps84...
but I haven't seen
anything yet about comparisons between say a Pitts S1C, Acrosport 1,
Starduster (do they make a 1?), etc. etc.
When I was first looking for an aerobatic aircraft I tried to...

An Article on Unrecoverable Spins by
Dave Swartz
There has been a lot written about spins and spin recovery over the
years. Yet, each year we continue to loose a few pilots to spins.
I'm aware of 2 Pitts S2B's (each with 2 aboard) that spun in this
April and an S2C that spun in last September (again with 2...

First Two Aero Lessons This Weekend (Long) by
David B. Cole
Well I just returned from my second acro lesson in as many days and
all I can say is that I'm wiped out. Having an opportunity to fly
with Rich Stowell on two occasions and performing a number of spins
and other maneuvers certainly helped with endurance.
The airport that I flew from is Van Sant...

Optimal Frequency of Lessons by
David B. Cole
Just coming off my latest aero flight just over a week ago with Mr.
Stowell, I've decided that I want to take advantage of the momentum
and start a more formal course fairly soon. I think I have an
instructor nailed down. My plan is to start with a 5-10 hours course,
spread out over several months....
