Lenders? by
12voltman
I am looking to purchase a Piper Seneca II, and though my partner and
I have significant assets and good credit, we were turned down by
MBNA/AOPA.
Does anyone have an lender that they recommend? Had a great
experience with? etc.... There are a lot on the web, but I'd like to
have some first-hand...

for a turbonormalised engine it will be at critical altitude, right?
Thanks in advance.

How to break your Garmin 396 by
Dan Luke
Just let battery run down with the USB XM weather antenna connected.
I did this to see how much battery life I would get with the screen set
at half brightness (5+ hours), but when I reconnected external power,
the unit begin an endless series of re-boots, never getting past the "I
agree" lawyer...

Required IFR Radios by
Bill Denton
If I am reading FAR 91.205 (d) (2) correctly, you only need one COMM radio
and one navigation radio (of some type) for IFR operation.
If this is correct, how do you stay in contact with ATC while picking up
ATIS, etc?
Are you allowed to request a frequency change, then come back to ATC?
Thanks!

Bendix/King serial data by
Robert Sefton
I'm trying to find a specification or at least waveforms for the Bendix/King
serial data protocol used on some DME gear. Googling has come up with
nothing. Any help appreciated.

Rare Bird found at Katama [1b2] Martha's Vineyard Island, Mass. by
Doug
I see two angles coming on this one.... Damn environmentalists....
1. Non-native species invades local eco-system, creates trouble for local
wildlife.
2. Rare species found now requires protection, close the airfield and 1000
acres of former public land now bird sanctuary.

Epiphany #132 by
Jay Honeck
As we were flying along yesterday, en route to a good lunch in a nearby
town, it happened again.
There I was, sitting comfortably at 3500 feet, as rock solid as I am right
now, gazing down upon freshly harvested fields and newly barren trees. The
sun was warm on my face, but the air was cool. ...

Anyone done it? Is it as bad as it looks? Spent the past few days at
the beach watching airplanes and it looks like a really good way to bend
up an airline and maybe break some bones.

Flying Car Spotted at TIW by
C J Campbell[_1_]
Sunday night a couple of the boys (names withheld to protect the
guilty) were celebrating late, for the 'morrow was a stand-down. Taking
the active in a blue Pontiac Grand-Am, they went roaring down the
runway at speeds in excess of 100 mph. Departing the north end of the
runway the car flew...

GPS Rentals by
Kyle Boatright
For me, the up front and ongoing costs of an XM weather equipped handheld
GPS put it on the wrong side of the value curve. I simply don't do enough
long X/C's to justify (ok, to rationalize) spending that kind of money.
But, if I could rent one for $50/day or $200/wk, that might make sense for...

Just noticed something, guys. Bertie used to use that @aa.aa as the

you'll find that address has been banned for "violating terms of

Landing Critique by
Marco Leon
See video of a hard(ish) landing at:
http://www.flightlevel350.com/viewer.php?id=4137
Did this guy land a bit short of the runway or was his glidepath a bit
too shallow? Something else? It's hard to tell from the video but maybe
some PA-32 drivers can give some insight. Or maybe someone fluent...

Another flight done. by
Oz Lander[_2_]
I've posted this with all my errors and mistakes included, as I believe
in posting true and accurate accounts of what happened. I state here
and now, that I know what they all were, and have learned from them. I
do not wish to evoke the sort of criticism I copped last time.
Well, I was due to fly...
