re.aviation.ifr by
Tom Fleischman
I'm planning a trip for mid-May from WHite Plains, NY (KHPN) to Santa
Fe, NM (KSF). I'm wondering if anyone here has made a similar flight
and has any advice for me.
I will be single-pilot IFR, will be flying a Beech Debonair and am
planning to file for a TAS of 165kts at 10,000'. I've broken the...

FAA medical question by
G. Sylvester
I took my student pilot cert 3 years ago. Last month I renewed it.
The doctor sends the form into the FAA, right? How long does it take
to show up in the FAA (online) databases? I'm not really concerned
when the FAA paper work catches up as I do have the paper certificate
in hand. I'm just...

Lakeway, TX by
Russ
Hello,
I have a complaint and feel that I was taken advantage of by the court
system in Lakeway TX. It concerns my landing a small plane at Lakeway
Airport in July, of 2004. I knew that the Airport is closed after
sunset and before sunrise but I was issued a ticket by a police officer
that...

questions for Naval aviators by
Mike W.
Is anyone here familiar with carrier-based aircraft operations?
My first question is, on naval aircraft, what are the three colored lights
for on the front? Usually mounted on the front landing gear, three different
colors.
Also, last time I was out in San Diego to visit my brother, we visited...

?? Newsdgroup Cookie Dropper ?? by
Casey Wilson
This applies to rec.aviation.piloting because this is where I seem to
be picking up a "cookie" from time to time. My, albeit limited, knowledge is
that cookies come from websites, not newsgroups.
I have a software package called SpyBot that seeks out adware, cookies,
spyware and that sort of stuff....

Helicopter Crash by
Gary
I saw this on the 6pm news last night and it seem mighty strange but a
jetranger helicopter crashed just after takeoff east of CYXX (Abbotsford)
with 1 fatality, a 22 year old female passanger!. The pilot escaped the
aircraft shortly after the crash and then fled the scene leaving his
passanger...

MAKING MONEY I found this on a bulletin board and decided to try it. A
little while back, I was browsing through newsgroups and came across an
article similar to this that said you could make thousands of dollars
within weeks with only an initial investment of $6.00! So I thought,

A Fine Day To Fly ... by
Withheld By Request
As March in Oregon goes, anyway. The fog lifted around 10am, not much wind,
clear below 12,000 except for some low-level inversion haze that's been
sitting over us for what seems like all winter.
I had a "not feeling well, going home" moment at work that turned
out to be nothing that 2.5 hours on...

Idea for Jim Weir by
Bob Chilcoat
Jim,
Like a lot of small airports, we have quite a few people who park in the
parking lot, frequently on their lunch hours, to watch the airplanes land
and take off. It would be a nice PR opportunity if they could listen to the
CTAF while they're there. I've been thinking about a simple repeater...

"Interesting" wind yesterday by
Jay Honeck
As many may know, we set records here in Iowa yesterday, hitting 73 degrees
in Iowa City. It felt great!
The winds in the afternoon started to kick up pretty good, as a cold front
approached from the northwest. On our way back from brunch in Lone Rock, WI
(where we ran into this group's own Jim...
