Ethanol Powered Airplane Certified In Brazil by
Victor
For those of you who do not have experience with etanol as fuel here
it goes. Engine compression is a little bit biger than a gasoline
engine. It burns a little bit more fuel. The big problem is that
ethanol is corosive. It will eat even carburators specially treated
for ethanol. What I was told...

Horton STOL 172 "V" speeds by
R. Wubben
I've just bought a '62 Cessna 172 with the Horton STOL kit and madras
droop tips and have a question:
My dad took it up for the first time (it's in WI, I'm in NC) and was
curious about if these modifications change the "V" speeds in any
significant way...? Apparantly there is no change in the POH...

Wanted Info on Narco Com 810 by
[email protected]
Wanted Info on Narco Com 810 - i just installed a couple of Narco Com
810's in my D35 and the audio seems too low. i have connected to the
high output on the radio, but it still should be a little louder.
Is there a internal adjustment to hike up the gain?
Thanks Dave

Step-up Planning by
O. Sami Saydjari
I now own a PA28R201T, Piper Turbo Arrow III. It is a great plane
(although, as some of you know, I have had more than my share of
"challenges"). At altitude it cruises at 170 knots. Cost to operate is
around $90/hour (figuring maintenance and such). My range requirement
is 660nm with 45...

Ercoupe Opinions by
Doofus P. Leadbottom
I've got somewhat of a liking for Ercoupes and its derivitives. They seem
to be inexpensive to purchase, and somewhat cheap to fly and maintain. For
a fairly new pilot, who just want to fly for the fun of it, are they a good
bet?

Depreciating aircraft parts, dealing with taxes, etc. by
Andrew Gideon
Most owners, I assume, have corporations which do the actual owning and
which provide a liability firewall. But how are taxes managed?
The issue I think I'm facing is we pay money into the corporation against
future events like overhaul, repainting, etc. These monies add up. But
since this is...

FAA claims that Zodiac does not meet ASTM requirements by
vaughn[_3_]
Certainly nothing unexpected, but this is a disaster for Zodiac owners.
"The agency issued a special airworthiness information bulletin for existing
Zodiacs and suspended the issuance of any new airworthiness certificates. ...
The FAA estimates that the wing design loads were 20 to 25 percent...

More About Leaning During Climb by

Service Bulletins, Service Letters, Service Spares Letters by
O. Sami Saydjari
Is there an on-line listing of all Service Bulletins, Service Letters,
and Service Spares Letters for a Piper Turbo Arrow III? I went to the
New Piper web site and they say that you have to purchase them from an
authorized dealer. It seems to me that someone might have taken the
trouble to put...

Rear passenger legroom in arrow by
Dahlin
I currently fly a 1969 140 and am considering buying an Arrow. Is there
more leg room for rear passengers in the Arrow than the 140? Is there a
difference in the pre 72 and post 72 Arrows with the longer fuselage as far
as legroom. I'm tall and need the seat back which doesn't leave any leg...

Anyone happen to have these two NTSB regs handy? I'm reviewing for my BFR

Priming the engine and Mag check questions by
JDupre5762
A person told me it is better to push the primer slowly rather
then quick shots.
Slower is better on pulling out the primer as this allows the primer cylinder
to draw in all the fuel it can take. Pushing the charge in quickly is probably
best as the velocity may help in atomizing the...
