Flying into West Yellowstone airport (WYS) by
M
We're planning to fly into West Yellowstone airport (WYS) in a Grumman
AA-5 Traveler with stock engine. The landing and takeoff will be about
200lb under gross and we plan to take off in early morning. Densitiy
altitude is of course a major concern.
Has anyone flown to that airport in similar...

Is a "yellow-tag" really necessary? by
joe mamma
No technician in his right mind would put a part in an airplane that
does not have traceablity. yes you Do need a yellow serviceable tag.
Or better yet an 8130.
It amazes me what some of you owners do on your airplanes.....You
cannot legally install that if you dont have an A&P.

OT T6 Formation Flight Randoms - Video by
A Lieberma[_2_]
Last allotment of my T6 videos. Kinda saved the best for last.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rc2cua16euk
The focus of this video is the tightness of the formations and the
precision
All shots were with the camera were zoomed out and as you can see I
could barely get one plane in the picture,...

Terra TX 760D by
Henry and Debbie McFarland
A friend of mine inherited a Terra TX 760D in the Citabria he recently
bought. The radio is now giving him trouble. While Terra is out of business,
Star Avionics in CHA works on these and can get parts. He wants to know if
anyone has any experience with these radios, and if so, are they worth...

Luscombe Hits the Dust. by
brian whatcott
An aircraft startup went into action about 12 years ago. To design and
certify an updated Luscombe 11, at Altus Oklahoma.
It was a struggle. The FAA requirements are very, very demanding. And
the new light aircraft market crashed 2 or 3 years ago, just as the
certificate was finally approved...

Tiny vacuum pump by
Jim Weir
Does anybody have an idea on how to make a tiny little vacuum pump on the order
of an aquarium pump or so that will draw just a few inches of water? Preferably
110, but I can rig up a 12 volt supply if necessary.
The reason I say this is that I'm getting ready to pack a fairly large number...

A strange richness... by
Jay Honeck
On our flight to Nevada, I was impressed with the smoothness and
car-like predictability of Jim Burns' start-up technique with his
Lycoming IO-540s. Jim had a way to start them that I'd not seen
demonstrated before, which I will describe he

2. Electric primer on for (a few?)...

jet powered personal glider by
[email protected]
With an 85-lb jet engine, I should be able to come up with a
two-seater, single engine glider that would be much more affordable and
efficient than the eclipse jet. This plane would be ideal for
pilot/owners who want to fly cross-country in their own jet. Forget 3.6
million, or 850000 dollar price...

A simple Flight to ACY by
Kobra
Hello fellow flyers,
My apologies in advance if this is boring. This is my very first attempt at
making a video of any kind. Give it a look and all comments are welcome.
BTW, I already know I didn't hold the centerline on lift-off (embarrassed
look). ALieb noticed that right away. I had a...

Light Sport Aircraft for Private Pilots (Long) by
Jimbob
Hi all.
I'm a current student pilot(PPSEL) and I have been reading up on the
new sport pilot/LSA stuff that has come about. My interest, like most
potential pilots, is to eventually own an aircraft, but that will be
several years down the road. However, the new Light Sport Aircraft
class caught...

Problems with Rapco dry vacuum pumps. by
abripl
Just a warning for those who might consider purchasing Rapco dry vacuum
pumps. Make sure that your engine does not leak oil. If there is any
chance of an oil drip onto the Rapco vacuum pump it may eventually stop
working. The connecting shaft is vented to air. But if some oil drops
on the shaft it...

Another ownership question by
Wendy
I've searched through the archives, and there is a lot of useful information
there concerning buying and affording an airplane. My question,
specifically, is this: If I bought a 1977-ish Cessna 172 that is IFR
equipped with a low time engine for, say, around $45,000, can I beat the
rental cost...

Induction System Water Problem by
Mike Spera
At the last annual, we replaced the 3" scat tube in our 74 Cherokee 140
Cruiser that runs from the nose cowling to the carb air box. The old one
was getting tattered and had several small pinholes in it. It ran fine
all summer and fall. About 2 months ago, I went out to fly the beast. It
fired up,...

KX-170B + KI-214 Will a MX170B operate the G/S by
Roy Page
I have a 1977 Piper Archer II with a KX-170B. and KI-214 indicator.
I understand that the G/S receiver is built into the KI-214.
If I replace the KX-170B with a Michel MX-170B will the G/S and Localizer
work OK with it ?
As an aside I am a Radio Amateur who has built and operated radio...

WTB: rivnut keyway notcher by
scott
Hi,
I am looking for a notcher that will cut keyway notches for a #6 rivnut
with a key. I have tried every tool store online that I can find. No one
seems to have them. I was outbid on a couple of used ones on Ebay and
haven't seen any since the last time. Any help would be appreciated.
