Flying out of JFK by
Chuck
Hi,
I will be flying out of JFK on 18 April at 400P and returning to JFK on
30 April at 725P. I'm thinking of flying my Archer from Cleveland to
somewhere in the area (no, I don't want to go into JFK, ha ha) and
leaving her there for the couple of weeks. Any suggestions will be
appriciated. I...

Experience with SIRS compass? by
Ross Oliver
My aircraft compass, Airpath glare-shield mounted, has recently sprung
a leak, and nearly all the fluid has disappeared over the past 4-6 weeks.
My mechanic says the diaphram has probably broken, and can be easily
replaced. But I'm thinking this could be an opportunity to replace it
with a SIRS...

"certified' parts by
Jimmy B.
Yesterday, I attended a FAA safety seminar where the topic was
maintenance issues. I walked away with a few surprising nuggets of
information. These issues have been discussed here in the past and some
of the information posited here disagreed with what the FAA said. So, I
thought it would be...

Sell the plane? by
Jim Rosinski
Recently a few of the regulars on this forum have for various reasons
sold their planes. Well, it looks like I'm about to join them. I've
been offered a job in Maui, and am likely to accept. I took a few extra
days off during the interview trip and talked with folks at Maui
Aviators, who rent...

HOW TO TURN $6 INTO $6,000!!!!!! READING THIS COULD CHANGE YOUR LIFE!
I found this on a bulletin board and decided to try it. A little while

Avion Yokes by

Anyone installed Avion yokes on their bird? I seem to remember reading
some horror story about how someone went down this path, and then
couldn't get the field approval from the FSDO.......

Remote Power On by
Robbie S.
I have been trying to figure out a cheaper alternative to having to pay $369
to purchase a Beeper Box to turn the engine heater on in my hanger from a
remote location an hour or two before I fly. Before I try and re-invent the
wheel, does anyone know of a product on the market that could do the...

jet powered personal glider by
[email protected]
With an 85-lb jet engine, I should be able to come up with a
two-seater, single engine glider that would be much more affordable and
efficient than the eclipse jet. This plane would be ideal for
pilot/owners who want to fly cross-country in their own jet. Forget 3.6
million, or 850000 dollar price...

One of those 'never again" sort of things... by
kontiki
not a dramatic story, but one worth telling...
I was flying my bird over to another airport for the annual. Was
planning on replacing the right fuel cell so at the end of the
previous flight I topped off the left side only (figured I'd burn
off the rest on the way over there). Lo and behold I...

King 525A HSI - Maintenance & Overhaul manual by
Kyprianos Biris
Does anyone have access to "King 525A HSI - Maintenance & Overhaul manual"
?
There's something I need from there.
Our HSI's glideslope is faulty; it idicates we're too low and has
inconsistent behaviour in general. After two test ILS approaches we found it
was with the avionics (not the ground...

Attn Stan Prevost re XM Weather and Bluetooth by
Mike Granby
Stan,
I saw a posting from you from last year when you were talking about
putting XM bluetooth weather in your Saratoga, with the XM box in the
forward bagage compartment. Did you go ahead with this idea? Did you
have any issues with the range of the bluetooth? I'm thinking of a
similar thing in...

Pireps on Avionics by
Robbie S.
I am planning to put some avionics in a C182 I bought (Garmin GNS430,
GMA340, 106A etc.). Someone made a remark that if I go to Oshkosh this
year, I could probably get it done quite inexpensively while I am there.
Please let me know if anyone has had any good/bad experience with this...

One step closer to owning an Arrow by

My partners and I have a verbal offer on a '70 Arrow. We're working on
getting it down in writing but, so far, things look pretty good.
Biggest issue right now is getting the pre-buy scheduled and having SB

I'm planning to fly back to...
