Room available for EAA by
[email protected]
We had someone from Kansas City who was going to stay with us during the EAA
Airventure, but changed his mind about coming. So now my wife and I are
happy to offer our spare bedroom in our house in northern Appleton,
Wisconsin, about 35 minutes from EAA in Oshkosh. It isn't much, just a
futon...

New school in Seattle area by
Baha
I just wanted to inform Seattle area pilots about a new school that
started in Renton Municipal Airport. We are AcuWings, a family owned
business. The reason we started the school is because we felt the void
in Renton Airport for an alternative outfit.
We currently have a Piper Tomahawk that is a...

Good news: Kicking out of N-reg aircraft (from the UK) postponed by
Barney Rubble
This bit sums up all that is wrong with European flying :-
"Respondents should note, however, that EASA will need to establish
instrument rating requirements that are appropriate for European operations
and weather conditions and that previous work by experts indicates that

RAIM Prediction by
Barry
Is there a site that provides online RAIM predictions for the US? I know
that Flight Service is supposed to be able to provide this, but it would be
nice to have another source.

Garmin 96c glitch? by
Barry
Anyone out there using the Garmin 96c handheld GPS? I have discovered a
glitch that may be a significant firmware problem on the 96c (and maybe the
96). When projecting a waypoint on a bearing from between 165 to 181
degrees FROM any existing waypoint in the 96c's internal aviation datatbase
on...

Does part 91 apply outside the USA? by
Barry
Now let's take 91.175. The USA mandates the use of a published IAP.
The UK does not. 91.1 says p91 does not apply outside the USA. Does
this mean one can fly an unpublished IAP in the UK?
I don't see anything in 91.1 saying that it does not apply outside the US.
It says that it does...

Outer Marker by
Barry
When doing an ILS approach, with the glideslope, is it a requirement to be
able to identify the outer marker or a substitute? FAR 91.175(k) lists the
outer marker as one of the "basic ground components" and gives the acceptable
substitutes, but doesn't explicitly say that it's required. The AIM...
