Power pack for camping? by
LincTex
When I go camping, I usually need 115v for less than 2 hours at a
time, (and less than 500 watts) so I use one of these:

The draw on a battery is not bad, and you can charge a cell phone and
iPod in two hours. My cell phone...

Atomic Hydrogen Fuel by
[email protected]
Hello,
Has there ever been an actual rocket or jet prototype ever developed
that uses atomic Hydrogen? This is not necessairily a fuel cell, but
there is a lot of talk on how this could be 5 times as powerfull as a
conventional jet or rocket, & it seems fairly easy to produce, so has
this actually...

OTA -- a new twist to "call me when you land" by
Roy Smith
I heard a bizarre interaction this evening (about 8:00, on 126.4, near
White Plains, NY). The conversation went something like this:
NY Approach: Proceed direct Carmel.
Pilot: Carmel isn't on our route.
NY: It's on the SID. I assigned you the SID.
Pilot: No, Carmel's not on the SID.

Patch: Global Hangar Flying by
[email protected]
Somewhere on rec.aviation.*, I thought I heard about an idea to
create a patch so we could recognize each other at Oshkosh and other
venues.
It so happens that I have an unused patch for:
"Air USENET" and "Global Hangar Flying".
So, I scanned it in and shipped a 3Mb file to Jay Honeck for...

Generator on 100LL? by
Mark Morissette
Does anyone have any experience with running 100LL in a generator?
I picked up a small and quiet (900 Watt) genny a week or so back for
Oshkosk, and am considering the fuel options for it once we get there.
The manual was of only minor help, mentioning a minimum of 87 Octane
"unleaded". Its the...

New Garmin? by
Jon A
The big avionics houses have all dropped the price of the Garmin 396
by $300.00. Last time this happened the 295 was in vogue and the 296
was introduces. Not long after, the 296 price dropped and the 396 was
released, all while Garmin denied everything. It only stands to
reason that I heard...

aircraft airconditioning by
LincTex
All airliners basicly use a freon sytem (seldom) or "air
cycle" packs. (common)
Air packs are simple and light, but use a LOT of fuel to operate.
Freon systems are MUCH heavier and more complex, but more efficient.
