Accidents will happen by
[email protected]
Around summer 1989, a three-foot-long practice bomb was accidentally
dislodged from a Navy fighter je that was on a training mission. The
wayward ordnance, which was inert, came to rest in the backyard of
William Larsen's Middleburg, FL, home. The bomb gouged a foot-deep
crater in the earth, but,...

UH-2A mishap, USS Bon Homme Richard 9Dec62 by
Krztalizer
UH-2A Seasprite, Buno 147976, made a forced landing some distance from CVA 31
USS Bon Homme Richard. The pilot made a good landing and deployed the
floatation bags under the fuselage while a second UH-2A hovered nearby. But,
in an all too familiar scenario for such events, once the rotorbrake...

Wildcats to Tomcats: The Tailhook Navy (Tailhook Navy Series) by
John
Howdy all. I found a copy of Wildcats to Tomcats: The Tailhook Navy
(Tailhook Navy Series) editted by Barrett Tillman. It seems to be oral
histories by three naval aviators - Wally Shirra, Zeke Cormier, and
Phil Wood.
Has anyone read it and have any comments about the book itself?
Thanks in...

Great job by VRC-40 aircrew at Norfolk by
Mike Weeks
CNN carried live the C-2 getting down w/o any gear. Flight crew did a
hell'a job. Dumped fuel, feathered the right engine, caught the
emergency wire w/ the extended hook.
All captured by a nearby news helo.

HMS Campania (WW I) by
[email protected]
This is my first post in many years. I am looking for any information
about why HMS Campania missed the signal to sortie to the Battle of
Jutland. Most accounts I've found state this as the reason, (one or
two accounts say engine problems.) Her position in the anchorage at
Scapa Flow was stated...

Maintenance Personel by
Charles Talleyrand
How is aircraft maintenance organized? Is you average mechanic assigned to a plane or to
a subsystem? In other words, is the mechanic assigned to Airplane #1234, or to "left
wing hydraulics"?
-Thanks
