Purists are from Pluto, Motorgliderists are from Mars - #2 by
Eric Greenwell[_4_]
Didn't make it to a new thread on the first attempt...
-----------------------------------------
I moved this to a new thread, as it seemed to go in a different direction than Bob's original
conversation starter.

Do Purist Exhibit Higher Testosterone Levels ? by
[email protected]
One of the many questions that most of us purist ask examines the phycological and psychical differences in individuals that fly Motorgliders vs purist. I do think that the motorglider fliers should certainly be considered for a much different score system compared to the true real purist. So,...

new SSA web site by
Moshe Braner
The "new web site" is live, and it is very slow to load, and I can't
find anything... Where did the state records go?
And when I tried to login it made me spend much time training Google's
AI via a "Captcha" - I hate those things with a white-hot passion!
And then it rejected my password. (I...

You could get 2/3 guys together and this thing would be a blast.
I bet it would climb to base with anything!
Love the paintjob.

Transition from iOS to Windows PC by
Phoenix
I will be having a ClearNav2 installed soon and will need to purchase a PC for utilizing this system. I'm an Apple guy at present. What do you recommend for an inexpensive PC to be used solely for the CN2? Alternately, is there an option for using a MacBook Air with the CN2?

Std. Libelle water ballast system by
[email protected]
I bought my second Std. Libelle, s/n 593 so it is a balasted ship ex-factory. A 201B.
It has waterbags, the dumplever but no valve in the wheel well and no holes in the bulkhead behind the seat and the wheel well.
Not a trace of it...
It has seen extensive damage the two years after it was...

Vc gear fixed! by
Phoenix
I would like to thank everyone who made suggestions regarding the difficulty in both raising and lowering the gear on my Ventus C.
Turns out the culprit was the castle nut on the axel was way too tight. I loosened it to only hand tight and installed a new pip pin (sp?) Works like it was designed to...

Pawnee air-oil bear strut pressure by
Larry Ruggiero
Yes I know they’re problematic. Just returned our PA 25-235 from its annual, where one of ours was rebuilt (locked solid) and both serviced. Like I assume many of yours are, our Pawnee has no hopper and will never see gross weight again. So should the air side of the struts still be 575psi per...

Vc gear difficulty by
Phoenix
Anyone have a solution as to why my gear is so VERY difficult to retract / extend on my Ventus c? It's the very last 10% trying to get the lever into the indent that's the problem.

The decline of gliding - a worldwide issue? by
Douglas Richardson
Good morning,
My name is Douglas and I am a glider pilot here in the UK.
I would like to start a friendly discussion about the decline of gliding and whether this is an issue outside of the UK.
Within the UK gliding has been in decline for decades and according to discussion on gliderpilot.net ...

Schweizer towhook inversion by
Andrew[_16_]
As suggested long ago, Schweizer towhooks may be difficult to operate in the event of a kiting incident, and are much safer if installed upside down. I have found a copy of an FAA approval (form 337) for doing this on a Pawnee. If anyone still wishes to do this modification, having this prior 337...

Looking drawings of a Standard Libelle panel by
Michael Bamberg
All,
I'm in the process of rebuilding a Standard Libelle instrument panel. I would like to use my CNC router to cut the holes but to do that I need accurate data to put in the CAD program.
If anyone has either an accurate digital file (DXF or SVG) that would be marvelous! Other files type can...
