aircraft airconditioning by
LincTex
All airliners basicly use a freon sytem (seldom) or "air
cycle" packs. (common)
Air packs are simple and light, but use a LOT of fuel to operate.
Freon systems are MUCH heavier and more complex, but more efficient.

Headphone adapter/mic help request by
GEG
I'm a musician and I have some excellent noise reduction
in-ear headphones. I would like to use these as my
in-cockpit headphones.
Generally - the regular over-the-head, squish-your-ear
things are quite annoying to me.
However - that leaves me with the issue of a mic and adapter
to use these...

CSI: "class four rating"?! by
Kyler Laird
In a CSI Miami episode that I recorded awhile ago, a pilot crashes
onto a beach. The NTSB inspector (who appears to be a complete
idiot compared to the profound star of the show), says "long flight
over the ocean; the pilot probably had a class four rating".
Does that have any basis in reality? ...

How long to get down question by
David Lesher
A query for folks here. While discussing bad things that can happen
between the chocks, I posited that it's a really bad place to be in
a medical emergency, etc. -- based on how long it takes to get on
the ground.
That brings up the question of how long that time really is....
