Pitot Heat Failure in a Piper by
Marco Leon
I have a 1978 Warrior II and it looks like the heat element went south. The
circuit breaker is fine so I believe that's the problem but I'm open to
suggestions. My A&P is out of town so I'd like to try and get a head start
by ordering parts if possible. Can anyone recommend a source to get...

Downloading Flying Music by
Jay Honeck
We've got the PS Engineering CD/Intercom in our plane, and listen to CDs on
long trips.
I am obviously slipping into "dinosaur" status, as I have never downloaded
music, for "burning" onto a blank CD. I *have* burned CDs, but I've always
done it from tracks played off of another CD.
Does anyone...

directional gyro inlet filter by
dlevy
There is a filter on my Sigma Tek directional gyro at the port marked
"inlet". It's stamped with "Pandect Instruments Labs" and "Ref # 6A/5237".
It's a wafer type filter about 1 1/2" in diameter with another very small
screen about a 1/4" in diameter. The small screen is broken (has a hole in...

Cessna air vents by
Matt
Hello everyone. It's getting a little chilly around here now; I have seen
the "ventubes" that are being sold for $75 apiece. Has anyone simply taped
over the inlet in the wing root? I was thinking of giving this a try,
seeing that there is no real need for cold air ventilation at this time...

Jeffrey Bloss, the coward by
Mark
What a coward. You hack my google account,
you libel me, and brag about it. You leave
ridiculous posts, and fools like ARI jump on
board and spread the garbage.
But now that the FBI is researching this, you
suddenly go hide.
There's enough archived for us to work with.

Any way to lower Piper Dakota seat height? by
Bob Reynolds
I'm 6'4" tall and just became a partner in a 1983 Piper Dakota, with
standard seats that allow a vertical adjustment. However, what I'm
finding is that I need about 1" to 2" more of headroom to be
comfortable even when the seat is fully down. Does anyone make an FAA
approved seat that will buy me...

Secondary Stall by
w3n-a
http://w3n-a.blogspot.com/2008/12/secondary-stall.html
This stall is called a secondary stall since it may occur after a
recovery from a preceding stall. It is caused by attempting to hasten
the completion of a stall recovery before the airplane has regained
sufficient flying speed. When this...

Repairing Plastic Instrument Panel Overlay by
Jeff P
I recently saw an article in KitPlanes or maybe Sport Pilot about how
to repair / rebuild a plastic instrument panel overlay. Whichever mag
I saw it
in, I've managed to throw away. Anyone know what issue this was?
Could you email me a copy?
Thanks for the help.

Installing a landing light blinker in an Archer by
Mike Noel
A while back I asked for information about installing a landing light
blinker system in an Archer. Now that the job is done I'll share my
experiences with the Great Planetary Bit-Bucket.
First off, I'm very pleased with the system. I want Jim Weir to know his
generosity was not in vain! ...

Beech F-33/B-55 panel upgrade or STC by
Gordon Rich-Phillips
In 1984 Beech did a major upgrade to the panel on A-36 Bonanzas and B-58
Barons, getting rid of the high-mounted throttle quadrant and control column
boom and installing a conventional throttle quadrant and individual control
columns.
Beech didn't make this change to the F-33 Bonanza or the B-55...

User Fees by
Dude
Where is all this user fee flak coming from?
Do the fuel taxes not get routed back to the system? If not, let's raise a
big stink.
Are the budgets not big enough? Okay, I might be convinced that this is
true, and I may even be willing to look past the fact that the system is
where it is due to...

C-172 landing light switch by
JFLEISC
My '61 Cessna landing light switch has two positions; First notch is the taxi
light, and the last notch turns on the landing light but leaves on the taxi
light. Does anyone know of a legal replacement switch that separates the two
lights? (taxi light goes off on the last notch). The reason I ask is...

C182 / SMA Jet Fuel Engine? by
Mike
Is there any information available about the new SMA jet fuel engines
that are being offered for the C182?
I'm curious if maintenance would be much of an issue. Are there many
shops that can handle working on them?
Is it a replace only like the Centurion 1.7 on the Diamond airplanes?
Or can it be...

Trial by newspaper by
Paul kgyy
I feel sorry for the SW pilots who went through the fence at Midway
last week. Now every edition of the local newspapers runs articles by
lawyers and journalists second-guessing every decision made on a
difficult approach - quartering tail wind, marginal visibility, fair
braking, short...

PA28 Light Dimming Rheostat issues by

Hey all. Just got done with a marathon day of maintenance yesterday and figured I'd share. The
interior lights started blowing the breaker a week or two ago, so my mechanic and I repaired it
yesterday. It turns out that the breaker blowing was easy (one of the little clippy light bulbs had...
