Stiction in the yoke by
Jay Honeck
A previous owner, in an attempt to make his yokes move more freely, used dry
graphite in the yokes on our Pathfinder.
Of course, as moisture and condensation came and went, this graphite clumped
up and got gritty. This would restrict motion, so he apparently added MORE
graphite.
Long story...

Logging oil changes by
[email protected]
As some of you know, I'm in the market for an airplane. To this endeavor, I
find myself reading through a lot of maintenance log books.
I've noticed that some people log oil changes but some do not.
I'm a little worried about the owners who don't because I don't know if the
oil is ever changes...

Archer wheel pants on a Cherokee by
[email protected]
Hey all. I've got a hershey-bar PA-28 that's been without wheel pants since
we bought it. Looks a bit ghetto, and I'd like the speed increase available by
putting some on. Awhile back, I ebayed up a set of archer pants thinking I may be
able to make them work. After looking at it, it seemed...

garmin or something else by
Kelly
I'm trying to figure out what portable device to buy to provide in-
flight weather, as well as terrain info. Electronic approach plates
and enroute charts, as well as flight planning capability, would also
be a plus, but not essential. I fly a Cessna 172 that is already
equipped with a Garmin...

Stol/lsa Features by
aerojones
Hi
I'm conducting a survey for my aeronautics course and I was hoping you all could help me out.
I'm focusing on smaller single reciprocating, nonturbine engine aircrafts and I wanted to know what are the most important features/expectations when considering a STOL and/or Light Sport aircraft?...

Engine Preheater - any good? by
Bob Chilcoat
My partners and I are considering this preheater:
http://aerothermheaters.com/
It's advantages seem to be that, unlike Tannis and other sump heaters, it's
not permanently attached to the airplane, and therefore doesn't require an
STC or W&B recalculation (unless you forget it and leave it attached...

PA28 Low Voltage Light by
Dave
Hi people,
Our PA28 has developed a problem. The Low Voltage indicator keeps
coming on. The engineer has replaced the Voltage Regulator which didn't
solve the problem at all. Then he changed the Overvolt relay. I flew it
for 50 minutes with no problems and then the next time I took it up
(some...

winch pull of plane into hanger by
[email protected]
I am back to pulling the warrior back into the hanger with a winch. I
tried modifying a small briggs and stratton powered "mule" to the
cherokee towbar attachment but could not get the control I wanted.
So now, I need the experience of anyone else who has rigged up a winch
with extended control. ...

ZAON XRX Problem by

Anyone seen this?...
I have a new XRX that I've flown with about 10 times now. Today, when
I turned
it on, all I got on the display was a light gray solid square. It
never got as
far as the ZAON splash screen. The audio went through a sequence of
two beeps
and "test". Beep beep "test", beep beep...

Machine shop information needed. by
Dave[_16_]
I have a friend with a Ercoupe whose steering knuckle/assembly has been
worn to where it is too sloppy.
It's about 2.20 inches in diameter and rotates on the nose strut assy.
It's what the scissors are attach to. It either needs to be bushed or
trued up and add a bearing sleeve to the mating...

Tiny vacuum pump by
Jim Weir
Does anybody have an idea on how to make a tiny little vacuum pump on the order
of an aquarium pump or so that will draw just a few inches of water? Preferably
110, but I can rig up a 12 volt supply if necessary.
The reason I say this is that I'm getting ready to pack a fairly large number...

Induction System Water Problem by
Mike Spera
At the last annual, we replaced the 3" scat tube in our 74 Cherokee 140
Cruiser that runs from the nose cowling to the carb air box. The old one
was getting tattered and had several small pinholes in it. It ran fine
all summer and fall. About 2 months ago, I went out to fly the beast. It
fired up,...
