Bendix Magneto Question by
Dick Kurtz
I have an engine going into a homebuilt that uses the bendix D-2000 series
dual magneto. I have ordered a crank triggered ignition system to fire one
set of plugs and would like to replace the dual magneto with a single
magneto to fire the other set of plugs. The Starting functions will...

pushrod tube leak by
Dick[_1_]
Is there any method of sealing an engine-side leaking pushrod tube without
removing the rocker and loosing the head?
Was thinking something like replacing an axle boot on a front wheel drive
car with those split and bolted types...

Still C85 Nose Leak by
Dick[_1_]
Previously this list advised a split seal is used on my flanged crank C85
and I then verified my case vent, hoses and air/oil separator system were
not blocked.
Since rather than pulling that spinner, prop, nosecone and cowl baffling to
install a new crank seal, would like to ensure I'm not...

C85 Oil Leak by
Dick[_1_]
A small oil leak has shown up topside and immediately behind the nosebowl
on my Zodiac 601 HD powered with a C85. As near as can be seen, the
crankcase nipple connection and hose leading to the air/oil separator is not
"wet" or showing leakage. Neither the hose nor air/oil separator are...

Deregistration process help by
Dico
Hello,
I'm wondering if someone can tell me a step by step process that is
required to de-register an N# plane. I'm in canada and need to let the
gentleman in the US know the process. Somehow I doubt this happens
automagically!
Links to an FAA site would be great.
Thanks,

Free Mooney Muffler to good home. by
Dico
Hello,
We just replaced our muffler on the Mooney M20E Super 21 (1966) and
have the old one sitting at welding shop. Turns out that the price for
a new one was comparable to getting the old one fixed.
If anyone thinks they can do something with the old muffler, they can
email me...

AvMap EKP-IV users? any XM coming down the pipe? by
Dico
Hello,
Just wondering if we have any AvMap EKP-IV users here that can give a
comparison to the Garmin x96 units. The lower price and the much
larger screen make it seem pretty attractive. Although I'd like to
have the XM weather capability. Any one know if this is somethiing
they're working on?...

Ramp fees for Jets by
Dico
Hello,
I'm on the board of our local flying club and we manage the GA ramp.
I am wondering if people can share with me what their airport (or other
airports they've been to) are charge for overnight fees for jets. We
have a small overnight fee for planes (which i believe is waived if
they fuel...

KNS-80 display has gone haywire... by
Dico
Hello,
Our KNS-80 today wasn't 100%. Infact, for most of the day it was U/S.
Here is some background... today was cold...-15C (5F). I turned on the
heat in the hangar about 90 minutes before the flight so that the cabin
would get warm.
Once i started the plane and turned on the avionics...

Static wicks... recommendations by
Dico
Hello,
We don't have any static wicks on our plane. With the -20C dry dry
weather we've been having, the radios have some static and the VOR has
been a bit wonky as of late. A couple things I've read are affected
by static.
I have a Twin Comanche. Can anyone suggest a good static wick and
how...

Mode C is reading high.... by
Dico
Hello,
I've noticed during a flight the other day to Columbus that our Mode C
was reading high... by about 250 feet. The altimeter seems to be
indicating fine as on the ground, with the correct altimeter setting,
it shows the correct altitude. As well, flying the ILS, i make a habit
to check the...

Line in on Terra audio panel by
Dico
Hello,
I'm going to our avionics shop to have some "noise" hopefull removed
from our Garmin 430 com. While there I'd like them to run a line-in
to our Terra audio panel... just so I can plug a ipod or something
into it while flying longer legs. This, to me, doesn't seem like a
big job. I can...

Non-certified parts for a certified plane? by
Dico
Hello,
Do I need certified engine monitors for a certified plane if I keep the
factory ones installed? I was asking this to someone at our airport
today and they thought that I could install, for example, one of those
fancy engine monitors you see in experimental airplanes, as long as I
had the...

Century 2000 altitude hold issue... by
Dico
Hello All,
Just the past couple flights we've had an issue with the altitude hold
-- it doesn't work anymore. When pressed, the plane pitches up to
about 1500ft/min climb rate.
After flying around for 10 minutes and trying it again the plane would
only pitch up about 500' per min. After about...

non TSO AI for co-pilot legal? by
Dico
Hello,
I'm wondering if its legal to put a 2nd artificial horizon in the plane
as a backup if it is not certified? We may want to put one in the
plane as a backup... but just wanted to know if we need a certified
unit or not.
Thanks,
