Global Flyer arrives at Smithsonian by Ron Natalie
Finally got enough of a heads up to get over and actually watch an artifact arrive under it's own power. Fossett was the first to fly around the world solo non-stop non-refueled. The Udvar-Hazy center (the musueums Dulles center) already has two pioneering around the world panes: Wiley Post...

What are Boeing's plans? by David Lednicer
Here is an interesting question: the USAF KC-767 deal was supposed to keep the 767 line open, but this deal is dormant. If the USAF doesn't act soon, they won't be able to buy 767s as the line closes real soon. With this in mind; how are they going to buy E-10s (767-400ERs) if the line is closed?

I am confused with the document change control of JAR's. The "Change number" and the "amendment number" of JAR's in particular. Can someone explain me significance of "Change #" and "Amendment #" of JAR's? Thanks in advance for your replies.

NC Engine Out Landing? by John A. Weeks III
I took a long road trip over the weekend. At one point, I was driving north on US-52 just turning onto I-74 near Mt Airy in north-central North Carolina. As I made the turn, a very low flying airplane passed over the freeway. It had one engine stopped and the prop feathered. I think it was a...

Control Vision's patent by Kyler Laird
I hate software patents. They *really* burn me when they're on things that I've already discussed and planned to do. Here's one. http://www.avweb.com/eletter/archives/avflash/323-full.html#188748 Any GPS can tell you where you are but Control Vision's Anywhere Map system tells you where you...

GA Life near Manhattan by Marty Ross
I'll be moving to Manhattan from Los Angeles (does it get any more extreme?) next month. Any advice or relevant anecdotes out there to help me gather some leads about continuing my flying hobby from there? I've been renting (in L.A.) - usually from the FBO where I did my training. I'm IFR rated...

FAA ATA-100 data source by Paul Tomblin
I used to get my FAA ATA-100 data on a CD from the FAA. But then I moved and they seemed unable to process a change of address. So then I started getting it from Kyler Laird's aviationtoolbox.org. But he hasn't updated to the latest data yet, and it's supposed to be updated today. He's usually...
