Spousal checkride -- any suggestions? by
Eric Ross
I recently received my license and I am taking my somewhat nervous wife
up for the first time. I am aiming for a clear, reasonably smooth day.
Any suggestions for making this flight as positive as possible for her?
Thanks much,
Eric Ross

History of the BFR? by
Jay Honeck
Mary is off doing her BFR as I write this, which got me to wondering about
the history of the biennial flight review.
As I understand it, BFRs were not required until fairly recently (like, in
the last 30 years?). Given the current uproar over the creation of
relatively simple new requirements...

Talking About My Bi-Polar Disorder by
Mark
aka Manic Depressive.
Bipolar Disorder is a name given
to a behavior pattern.
I can think of at least 5 different
reasons why one would have this
pattern.
So what should *we* do?

Checkride Checklist Question by
Gary G
A fellow student and I were dsicussing something,
and we certainly intent to ask our instructors.
There are some points in the flight where the simple
(but important) checklist needs to occur.
For example, after takeoff clean-up, after landing clean-up,
before landing check list, etc . . .
Places...

Fossett, Fossett, Fossett, .... is he really that great? by
Bob Engelhardt
I don't get it: Burt Rutan designed and built the GlobalFlyer and
Branson financed it - why is Fosset getting all the attention and why
was he the pilot? Is he really that great of a pilot? It seems that
his real fame is as "adventurer". Maybe what he brought to the project
was his name and...

The Aviator by
Rosspilot
I went to see it yesterday. I thought it was actually pretty good, and thought
DeCaprio pulled off a believable Hughes.
The flying sequences seemed a little hokey, and the crash scenes were typical
Hollywood crap, but for 3 hours, it goes by quickly.

Biplane rides in Boston Area? by
Alan
Anyone know of any "credible" operators in the Boston area who sell
rides in a historic biplane like a Waco or Stearman? Old Rhinebeck
is probably too far to go. Looking to buy an hour or so of time as a
gift for my cousin's son.
Thanks,
Alan Bloom

Come see us at Oshkosh by
[email protected]
I posted earlier in response to a message from Jay Honeck telling him
to come by our booth at Oshkosh and say high, not meaning to make a
public announcement about a new product we are introducing at Oshkosh,
but it was quickly noticed by others and I was told I was being coy.
I just didn't want to...

Garmin GPSMAP 495 by
Marco Leon[_5_]
Like Piper and the Matrix, Garmin has stripped-out the expensive items in
the 496 and offering the 495 without weather and the automotive package at
$1,595 as opposed to the $2,395. I don't want to underestimate Garmin's
ability to price their products appropriately but I don't think this is a...

Avionics failure yesterday... by
[email protected]
Well, I haven't posted here in quite awhile. I'm an IFR-rated PP with
about 400 hours currently. Lately flying about 8 hours a month on
average.
Had an interesting experience yesterday: a "hard" avionics failure
complete with something popping/blowing/burning. Flying a very nice,
new (2000)...

Loophole in the AIP grants???? by

policy. Weiss said the federal agency can't...
