car seats in taxis by
J. Hansen
I am planning a trip including my five year old son to Niagara falls
next weekend. We are flying into Niagra Falls International Airport
(IAG) and plan to stay only for the day. The problem is how to get
from the airport to the falls and back. The natural choice is a taxi,
but what do we do with...

Wind by
john smith
Probably been asked before, but I'm too lazy to google it.
Is wind caused by being "pushed" (blown) or "pulled" (sucked)?

Will pilots always be kept in the loop ( automation)? by
Justin Maas
Hey all,
Now that I'm starting to fly more automated aircraft, I'm getting
worried about where it's all going. Right now, I really enjoy programming
in the flight and "flipping switches," as it's actually very satisfying.
Most avionics in the works are keeping the pilots in the loop, but how...

Talk about runway incursions... by
Dave Russell
So there I am, rolling on 32 (turf), the tail's just come up... when
an Archer blithely rolls right out in front of me on the taxiway for
4. :-|
You can't see much of the taxiway from the departure end of 4 because
of a hangar, and this guy was rolling along pretty good. He was fully
on the...

NGA US navigational data at risk? by
Doug Vetter
Has anyone seen the notice on the NGA website that the USFIF (raw
aviation waypoint data for the US) will be discontinued in October of 2007?
They tried to kill DAFIF as a whole last year but eventually succumbed
to pressure from the industry to allow US territorial data to remain
available. ...

Did anyone attend SNF '08? by
Jay Honeck[_2_]
I haven't seen any PIREPs about Sun N Fun in this forum this year. Did
anyone go? Any new toys? Did anyone buttonhole AvMap about their recent
announcement of XM weather coming "soon"? (Something we've been hearing
from them for years, now.)
Some locals who attended said that the bad...

Canals in Missouri? by
Jay Honeck
On our flight from Memphis, TN to Iowa City, IA, today, we were
diverted around the Lindbergh MOA. This took us over the small town of
Kennett, MO, which brought us over a pretty amazing sight.
Just east of the Kennett Airport (KTKX) there is (what looks for all
the world like) a "freeway canal"...

Lowrance GPS by
Casey Wilson
Hello all,
I put away a few pennies here and there and now its time to invest in a
good GPS receiver. I've decided that the Lowrance will give me all I need.
And maybe more since I won't be doing any IFR. (Yes, I know it isn't IFR
rated anyway. The point is I won't need it for IFR backup,...

One of our Class D controllers has taken issuing clearances such as

traffic."

What really happened to Chuck Noland's plane by
Mxsmanic
After watching _Cast Away_ again, I'm still not clear on what supposedly
caused the crash of his FedEx plane. Not being a pilot, though, perhaps
I've missed clues in the film. Has anyone here been able to figure out
what went wrong? Or was it just a "Hollywood crash" suitable for the
plot but...

Is the DC ADIZ on the charts? by
Snowbird
from AVWeb:
"Frankly, we're a bit frustrated that pilots are still violating it,
and we don't know why," the FAA's William Shumann told AVweb
yesterday. "It's on the charts, it's on our Web site."
*Is* the DC ADIZ on the charts? Not on websites, on actual VFR
sectionals
and TACs?
Thanks!
