Alarus for training? by Scott[_5_]
What do we think of an Alarus CH2000 as a primary trainer and as a weekend flyer? I've run into a possible opportunity to buy a used CH2000 for possibly well under market value (at auction, so it really depends on where the bidding goes). I also have a couple of guys who might be interested...

Alaska Senator Supports User Fees For All EXCEPT Alaska Pilots by Larry Dighera
How do these arrogant, self-serving, simpleminded politicians manage to get elected? Doesn't Senator Stevens realize that his token exemption will be overturned as soon as the bill is enacted? Doesn't he realize that he has become the first evidence of the user fee proponents' divide and conquer...

Alaska's Sky Follies book by doc
I just received a copy of Joe Rychetnik's "Alaska's Sky Follies," tales of the early days of bush piloting in Alaska. I already had it, so I'll give this one to anyone who wants to stop by (near ADS) and pick it up or who will pay for mailing it.

Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta by Casey Wilson
Hi All, I'm setting down some long range plans for attending the balloon gig in Albuquerque in 2005. Date are, I think, September 30 through October 9. I hope to fly over, weather permitting, and spend a few days gawking at the event. Questions: With only four days to spare at the event, which...

Alcohol in Fuel by Grumman-581
I'm starting to notice a lot more pumps around these days with a notice that they may contain up to 10% ethanol in the fuel mixture... Of course, they kind of puts a crimp in my autogas STC for my plane, but it got me to thinking if there might be a way to separate out the alcohol from the fuel...

What's the farthest west civilian airport in the Aleutians? I see military airports on Shemya and Attu: what happens if a civilian aircraft comes along and politely asks to join the traffic pattern? -- all the best, Dan Ford email (put Cubdriver in subject line) Warbird's...

Alien training rule by Paul Tomblin
The AOPA "Guide to TSA's Alien Flight Training/Citizenship Validation Rule" http://www.aopa.org/tsa_rule/ says that validation is required for training for "recreational pilot, sport pilot, or private pilot certificate; multiengine rating; or instrument training". If I've got an PP-ASEL-IA, does...

Alien training rule perspective by Roger Long
These new TSA training rules, however improved, are an excellent case study in security. Let's look first at the background. Before 911 and all the hysteria, a flight instructor noticed that an odd guy seemed to only want to learn how to take off and aim the plane without landing. The CFI alerted...

All Cessna Piston Singles to be Offered With Ballistic Recovery Parachutes by Larry Dighera
As a marketing ploy this may sell more aircraft, but is it wise/responsible to offer pilots the option of becoming passengers of their flights? Is it wise to add pyrotechnic explosives to the forced landing site? In any event, it's seems a bold move. CESSNA TO OFFER BRS PARACHUTES IN...
