Too Old? by
Gezellig
Recently a 72 yo went blind in flight (stroke?) and safely landed in the
drink in FL. Several comments were that age should be considered in
keeping your PPL. I can see this makes sense /but/ it would prolly be
illegal.
Too old? If so, at what age do you place the cutoff?

Wanting to put our club's 430s on the upgrade list, I need to get the serial

IFR in a vintage 172 - vacuum system by
Charlie Gibbs
Well, at long last I've decided to go for my instrument rating. I'm having
a ball (aside from yesterday's disastrous simulator session), but now I'm
facing the dilemma that every instrument student has to deal with: where to
find an IFR-capable aircraft. My 1961-vintage 172B's panel has a...

M20 Air/Oil separator by
Jay Honeck
Atlas just got his oil/air separator installed today. (For those who may
not know, Atlas is our '74 Cherokee Pathfinder, so-named because he can lift
literally anything we can fit inside!)
We picked this new accessory up at OSH '04, after much debate. (It's a
helluva lot of money for what looks...

Airtex Interiors (Again) by
Blanche
Mike:
If you're going to do the side panels, seriously consider what's
between the side panels and the aluminum. If it's anything
like my cherokee, it's disintegrating roofing insulation (or
something that looks like it). You'll want to remove that
stuff too and put better insulation. I'm leaning...

Cherokee 180 soft brake - causes? by
Nathan Young
I have a 1971 Piper Cherokee 180.
I changed the oil earlier this week, and then taxiied around the
airport as part of my runup check.
During this process, I noticed that upon first application - the right
brake is soft. Pumping the brake pedal gets the pressure back, and
then it works ok. ...

KLX-135 upgrade and battery by
[email protected]
Hey all... I've got a KLX-135 GPS/COM that recently developed an identity
crisis. Apparently there's an internal lithium battery that dies after 3-5 years and
causes it to forget all of its waypoints and internal GPS almanac. Anyone ever
replaced or had one replaced?
Also, I just recently became...

Nothing good about Ethanol by
180pilot
Conflict with aircraft fuel systems and Ethanol are many:
http://www.pmawwacs.org/downloads/gov_affairs/ethanol/Dept_Commerce_ethanol.pdf
California formulation is only about 5.7 percent Ethanol, so that
Cherokee 235 may get away with it for awhile, especially if it flies
to other airports and...

KX155 KX 155A Anybody know the difference? by
Mike Rapoport
The KX155 in my "new" airplane (Helio Courier) seems to have bitten the
dust. It looks like an old POS and I am trying to figure out what to do.
What are the functional differences between the KX155, KX165 and the KX155A
and KX165A? The airplane has a Garmin 300XL as #1 and a switching relay...

Can I replace a King KT76 with a KT76A in the existing tray. by
Roy Page
Our King KT76 transponder has gone down, but I have a KT76A !
A friend has advised that a KT76A is a slide in replacement for the KT76.
I doubt that he is correct, but I am sure the knowledgeably guys and gals on
this net will know the answer.
Assuming that I can't use the KT76A I would appreciate...
