Welding equipment advise by
PittsS1C
I am gathering the things I need to start building.
Does anyone here have any experience with the portable oxy acetylene setups?
Is the typical 20ft^3 Oxygen and 10 ft^3 acetylene configuration too small
to be useful when building a fuselage/struts?
How many times will you typically have to...

Dupont Corlar epoxy primer? by
[email protected]
Considering using corlar epoxy primer on 4130 tube fuselage. Is it dope
proof or specifically polytack proof? UV resistant and how hard and
durable is it? Going on clean metal and peviously primed metal. Also
wondering how glossy is it. Thanks Keith

lightweight hydraulic flap actuator? by
[email protected]
I was talking to a fellow that had a hydraulic flap actuator (hand
pumped) with a quick release return on a Top Cub. Anybody know of a
good source for these hand pumps? Any listers used something similar
for flaps and what did you think about it both in construction and
function?
I've thought of...

New Currency Rule for Homebuilt? by
Gig Giacona
Read this today on AVWEB. What is the deal?
http://avweb.com/newswire/11_19b/briefs/189753-1.html
The FAA is underscoring regulatory requirements for pilots who fly
passengers in homebuilt aircraft. A new notice would restrict them to flying
passengers only in planes in which they are qualified...

Senate Bill S.786 could kill NWS internet weather products by
FlyBoy
As a private pilot, I make frequent use of the NWS's Aviation Digital
Data Service (see 1). I especially like their "Java Tools" graphic
presentations of METAR, TAF, and AIR/SIGMET data. Senate Bill S. 786
(see 2) could well kill such NWS weather presentations in favor of
private sector...

Acrobatic Homebuilt? by
[email protected]
If I read the limitations correctly for my homebuilt, it looks like aerobatics
are out. The verbiage looks like the kind of boilerplate that is used in all
cases. So, are there special airworthyness versions for aerobatic capable
homebuilts? How is this handled with the inspector?
thanks,
tom...

Rings per inch for spruce? by
Esstern
I've been offered some spruce for spars that's pretty much perfect in every
way except there's 21 rings per inch instead of the recommended 12-15. Good
stuff or no? I don't really see the problem with finer grain spruce and in
fact, can't even remember where iread it's advisable to use 12=15...

Airmap 100 Obsolete. Need recent database by
Mike Palmer
Rats. I just called LEI Extras to buy a database update for our
Lowrance Airmap 100. They said they no longer offer GPS updates for that
unit. Database has gotten too big.
They offer a rebate on newer units if you turn your old one in -
$100 off the Airmap 500
$175 off the Airmap 1000
$225 off...

Jim Weir: RST-442 intercom good by
Leo
Jim and others interested,
I previously said that normal voice into the mikes on the headsets I
installed in my new homebuilt wouldn't easily break the squelch of the newly
built RST-442 Intercom I had also installed. Yesterday a friend used his
Sigtronics headset for the flight and the squelch...

protecting sliding mechanism by
Ernest Christley
I have some 4130 steel parts that slide in other 4130 steel parts, but
only occasionally. Most of the time the parts just sit around waiting
to be used. What is the best to keep the surfaces from rusting? Paint
is out, as it would clog the mechanism.

was gone. I next jumpered the over voltage sensor by...

Guys, this is pretty much farewell. As many of you know, Jane and I have

there to Laoag. We will not be back until December of 2006. I don't...
