FAA final rule: Aircraft registrations now good for only 3 years by
Alpha Propellerhead
Commercial airlines see private pilots as obstacles to their own business, so
they will consistently lobby in favor of airlines and against private pilots.
Over time, inevitably, private flight will wither and die.
"Commercial airlines" is a redundancy. All commercial pilots started
as...

JW Miller STCs? by
Jim Burns
Does anybody know if JW Miller Aviation of Texas is still in business? They
used to be out of Marble Falls, TX and had a lot of STCs for Aztec and
Comanche Modifications. I'd like to find a list of them and to see if they
are still manufacturing.
Thanks
Jim

Atlas is down... by
Jay Honeck
No, not *that* down...
Had my A&P install my new whiz-bang Iridium fine wire plugs yesterday, and
sent him on a chase for that pesky oil leak.
So what did he find? A cracked exhaust pipe, right at the weld in the
"gatherer" (where the three pipes come together).
Then, when we pulled the thing...

PIREP - Garmin GTX-327 by
Jay Honeck
I obtained this unit on Ebay nearly a month ago, from an avionics shop in
Bakersfield, CA. The unit had been installed in a plane for precisely one
day before that owner had decided that he REALLY wanted the Mode S GTX-330,
with traffic information capability.
The shop couldn't sell it as new...

Instrument lighting for 1980 Cessna 182Q [Club maintenance] by
Andrew Gideon
So I've taken on a project for my club, as a part of my desire to get more
involved in the maintenance side of things. I'm to seek out options for
new and improved instrument lighting for one of our aircraft.
The club Maintenance Chief provided me with some information he'd already
collected. ...

What are the signs?

Mooney M20E: pre-1969 vs 1969+ by
Jeff Meininger
I understand that in 1969, Mooney implemented a number of changes in
the M20C / M20E models. A friend and I might start shopping for one
of these planes in a few months, and I'm trying to figure out what's
important and what isn't.
1. Does the larger rudder in the 1969+ models have a positive...

Control surface repair legal? by
[email protected]
OK... I've got a question. I've seen a number of aircraft around that have
had little patches and repairs made on them. Sometimes on a wing or fuselage,
sometimes on an elevator, sometimes on an aileron. I've heard that it is illegal to
patch moveable control surfaces, but yet I've seen...

Electrical question possible regulator / generator bad? by
Robbz
hey all had a quick question. I am trying to figure out what the main cause of a 20 amp generator fuse blowing would be. I personally feel it is the regulator that has gone bad as it is a 1959 cessna 150. (20 amp generator equiped)
The battery is fine, it just pops the fuse. It takes a charge it...

Partnership Question by
Harry Gordon
I hope this is the right newsgroup for this question ---
An A&P mechanic at the flight school I am attending is considering buying a
172M (75/76 model). He is looking for a partner that will pick up the tab
for all maintenance - that is buying repair parts - he will do the labor.
While I haven't...

I'm an retired Navy pilot with lots of time (6000)--but nothing in the past 15 years--but my children are now moving all over the country and I'd like to get back into the air to visit them. I know little about the general aviation market or products but I'm partial to twin engines if only because...
