New EU Subsidy rules good for Gliding? by Stephen Haley
Have just seen on the news that the EU is changing the farming subsidy rules from next year, to try and reduce the food mountain I would guess. Now they are going to pay the subsidy regardless of the farmer actually growing anything with the subsidy being based on an average of x past years...

First Post: Hello! by Tobeon
Just a first post to say Hello! I just found this whole news group thing and was very happy to find a soaring newsgroup (though I haven't been gliding for several months due to school and huge lack of funds! No!) which is very bad as I just went solo and then couldn't go. I must save up some...

Cleaning a 3-way TE probe by Jack Glendening
I have a vertical-stabilizer mounted TE probe of the type that has 3 ports: ram, static, and venturi. I have been having problems with my varios and LNAV and had previously checked out the plumbing but had only looked at the "outside" end of the TE probe itself, which I remove after each flight. ...

News Flash: You don't need elevator control ! by nowhere
Yes, according to Peter Garrison's "Aftermath" column in the November issue of "Flying" you don't need to connect your elevator control! I quote: "the NTSB report does not comment on the fact that a disconnected elevator does not make an ASW-20, or for that matter any other airplane, unflyable. The...

Canopy repairs by Jay Todd
OK - I've done the Google search on this subject, printed out all the suggestions, purchased the Acrifix and even have a beat up old canopy to practice on before I work on the real thing. My question is - which Dremel tool is best to use for shaping the cracked area. Most of the cutters look like...

Aileron / flap corner drag ? by tango4
On an aircraft like the ventus there are several sections of control surface along the T/E of the wing resulting in several 'breaks' in the trailing edge. My question is - Are the breaks or corners of a deflected control surface the source of their own little vortices and therefore additional...

Re Eppler airfoils by Ronald E Baker
There is a book of Eppler airfoils. Sorry I can't recall the name, but it might be worth trying your local library. I traced it through my local library (Redcliffe, Queensland, Australia) who got it in for me from our state library (Brisbane). Keep looking as it's a great book, full of coordinates...
