Landing light options by Ronnie
My 1976 Cessna 172M uses a PAR 46 size GE4537 lamp for the landing light (12V, 100W). It is mounted in the lower cowling under the prop and does not last very long. I suppose the vibration of the engine kills the life of the bulb. I sure wished Cessna had designed this landing light installation...

I am getting sick and tired of rude, arrogant, sellers funny thing I just had a guy refuse to let my mechanic do a pre buy said he could not trust my mechanic to give an honest opinion and that if I cannot decide for my self if I wanted it or not then I don't need an airplane and don't need to be...

Mooney Engine Problem in Flight - Advise by Paul Smedshammer
This is a bit long winded but I'm looking for qualified opinions as to what might have happed to an almost total loss of power while in cruise flight in my Mooney M20F. Here is the story of what happened: I was flying from Turlock (south of Modesto) to Petaluma (north of San Francisco) on a...

Airplane for mobility impaired passenger by Sam940
My mission will be 50% of the time just my wife and I cross country and 50% with our two best friends, one of which is mobility impaired. Would any of you be able to recommend an airplane that would have an easy entrance and exit for rear seat passengers? It would not be possible for her to climb...

Your free AvGas fillup at Dodge Center MN (TOB) July Sunday 31, AM by abripl
Hi, Just returned from Oshkosh home to Pierre SD. I filled up at Dodge Center MN this AM and not being familiar with the self serve gas fillup, I did not hang up the pump handle properly. Somebody after me continued pumping another $150 on my credit card ($200 instead of about $50). My...

I like my privatized airport :) by Byron Miller
I have been learning to fly and hanging out at KLNS (Lancaster PA) for years, and it has been a privatized airport tower ever since i've known about it. Nicest controllers, safe airport and friendly skies. They're not any more incompetant than a "guvenment" controller and most certainly they...

Cont O-300D oil leak problem by [email protected]
I don't know what to do about this . . . hoping the collective wisdom here might have some ideas. For the last 3 months or so, after every flight, there are small streaks of oil on the inside of the lower cowling on my 67 'Hawk . . . if I don't wipe them up, they drip down on the tire of my nose...

Another expensive annual this year by [email protected]
Our first annual last year increased our plane ownership cost by 50% (engine overhaul, prop governor overhaul + few other big ticket replacement parts + labor). When Rick and I tallied up all the things we want our AP to do this year, it looked like we have to reach deep into our pockets...

IO-540 mystery by Paul Tomblin
Our club's PA32R-300 has an IO-540 with lots and lots of hours on it. After 20+ years, at this year's annual the compression was down a few pounds on a couple of the cylinders, and the mechanic said he really has his doubts about it passing next year's annual. That might be significant, or it...

Find A&P/IA's name based on cert number by Chad
In my logs I have an A&P/IA's certificate number, but I can't read his signature so I don't know what the name is, how can I find his name and address? I looked at landings.com and faa.gov but they don't allow you to search on certificate number.

Skyhawk vs. Mooney by Grant[_2_]
I was simply wondering if someone could break down the cost difference of a 172 and M20. Obviously maintenance on a mooney is going to be a little more and the fuel burn is a gallon or so more, so just some thoughts.

Garmin SL30 COMM problem? by No Spam
I was pulling the avionics boxes to verify serial numbers and now I've got a problem with my SL30. At first, it was dead so I re-racked it. That got it to power up, but now I can't transmit or received on it. The NAV side works fine, but the data to the external OBS may be screwed up. What have...
