Cessna Service Bulletin SEB94-8 by
[email protected]
Hi,
We just had our annual done on our 172E, and there were cracks found in
the forward horizontal stabilizer spar. The remedy is to apply Cessna
Service Bulletin SEB94-8.
Does anyone know where I can obtain a copy of this bulletin online?
I'm trying to get an idea of the cost of this...

337 to install a transponder? by
Jay Honeck
I just purchased a Garmin GTX-327 off of Ebay (installed for one day, before
the owner decided he REALLY wanted the Mode S GTX-330!), and am lining up
installation. I was surprised to hear that a 337 form had to be filed for
this installation.
It's not a big deal for the avionics shop to do, but...

Newbie question on relationships between TT, TBO and SMOH by
H.P.
If a plane (C172S) has 1600 TT but is at 250 hrs SMOH on an original engine
that's spec'd for 2000hrs TBO, does this mean that the engine went in for
overhaul prematurely? For what possible reason and how would I find out?

Throttle or Prop control first after takeoff by
cyberflyrg
We are having a argument about what is better to do after takeoff. Some mechanics say pull power back first after takeoff and then adjust prop speed after, my mechanic says prop speed back first and then manifold pressure after that.
What the "right" thing to do that will not damage the prop...

Cherokee Strut Lower Strut Seal Replacement Report by
Mike Spera
Well, did my first seal swap on the 140 on all 3 legs. Took me and the
wrench about 5 hours total. Completely slimy, dirty job. Remember, I
worked in my father's body shop as a younger man, so I am no stranger to
being filthy. This was worse. Being dirty WITH oil/grease involved is
way worse than...

Oil leak spotted around push rod tube seals by
Peter R.
Sigh Nine hours now on the newly rebuilt Continental IO-520 with
Superior Millennium cylinders, and already the primary fuel pump is going
back to the company for repair or replacement. More importantly, oil is
escaping from the #2 and #5 cylinders' push rod tube seals (at the
Continental case...

Matterhorn white aerosol spray can by
sky
I'm replacing an inspection cover on my plane, the plane is painted
with U.S Paint Awlgrip Matterhorn White. I have a small touch-up
bottle of matterhorn white, but the inspection cover is too big to
brush it and it would look bad.
Does anyone know if matterhorn white or something very similar...

Nicopress Swaging Tool - Availability by
Gary T. Ciampa
All,
This information may be well known but I felt compelled to pass it along.
I've been searching for a Nicopress Swaging tool and choking on the
prices at the typcial aircraft supply companies.
Turns out that Lowes has a Campbell Nicipress tool, 1/16 to 1/8 of an
inch for $24.95. The tool is...

Cirrus Airframe Life Limits by
Dave
I read a few posts referring to the FAA certificated life limit of the
cirrus airframes and couldn't believe my eyes. So, i did some
searching and here's what I found:
SR20 (approved 10/23/98) - airframe life limit 12,000 hours
SR22 (approved 11/30/00) - airframe life limit 4,350 hours
It's...

A Piper Cherokee 140... good first plane? by
Cecil Chapman
I'm beginning the process of looking for my own plane and have heard lots of
advice. Most have advised against getting something like a Cherokee 140 and
opt instead for something like a Cessna 172 or a Cherokee 180. Now, most
172 N's that I've flown have a 160 HP engine. It is my understanding...

Cessna Turbo 310 Riley Rocket by

Does anyone know anything about the "Riley Rocket" version of the Cessna
Turbo 310? I am getting claims of "260 KTAS at 20,000 feet burning only
24 gph total." Does that make sense? Seems a little too good to be
true. Does anyone have actual experience with a Riley Rocket that
matches this...

Improve performance of Continental O-300-D?? by

Hi folks - I just purchased a 1964 172e with a newly overhauled
Continental O-300-D engine and was hoping to get some suggestions for
improving performance on it. Is this feasible with this engine? I knew
buying it that climb performance was quite a bit different than the
150HP Lycoming, but I...

Pin out Collins VHF-251 TSO by

Was hopping someone here knows what the pin out was for the Collins
VHF-251 TSO radio is. I have a spare sitting around and was hoping to
make it into a base unit to monitor while I am working out in the
hanger. If someone knows what it is, please post.
Thanks

$1 + OVC by
Ben Smith
Hello and happy Friday :
I requested an FAA CD-ROM with all the archived paperwork for my plane.
While looking through the various 'Bill of Sale' forms, most of them say '$1
+ OVC' for the selling price. (OVC = Other Verbal Consideration)
Any ideas why this is done?

Private Pilot Uniforms by

I am anticipating getting my private certificate in the not-too-distant future. I know this may sound like a real dorky thing to some people, which is why I am reluctant to ask my instructor, but I was thinking about getting a uniform.
