The "Whirl": More Efficient Rotary Craft? by sanman
Here's something I was reading: http://www.newscientist.com/news/news.jsp?id=ns99996380 So beyond the mere claim of being more efficient, why would it actually be so? The claim of hovering for 4 days is quite a jump, when compared to Global Hawk. Is this even vaguely realistic?

Thoughts on handheld Aviation radios (ICOM vs Vertex-Standard) by Barnyard BOb -
WallMart has Eveready NiMH 2300 cells, about 11 bucks for 4. I don't think that is expensive, for how many charges you can get out of them. And you are right, they kick alkaline's As* ! :-) I bought an 8 pack from Wally World for appx $17 about 2 weeks ago. FYI.... The previous versions...

Helicopter headset plug - help needed by NewsGroups
I need some help for a customer on wiring a helicopter headset plug into the XCOM rado. The plug in question is known as a Nexus plug or a US Nato plug or a U-174/U or a TP-101, you can see how it becomes hard to find out what this really is..... Does anyone know what the different connectors are...

I've been looking for a gyroplane ready to fly. I've seen a few offered on eBay, went to look at them and they we rarely described correctly. I've seen one on ebay that's in California and it has a good description, good pictures and so on, but that's quite a drive to go see it before bidding. I...

Videos of aviation mishaps, accidents and crashes on-line by Rich
I think it might be healthy to be reminded ocasionally that bad things can happen if you don't respect what your doing, especially in aviation. Perhaps it'll make me a little more thorough on subsequent preflights. And I find no problem with learning from other's mistakes. So I watched the video...

Retractable Comm Antenna by Ron Wanttaja
All right, I *know* it's a stupid idea. But it seems like it'd be fun to build. I've got a Narco Escort II in my airplane. Like most (all?) Narcos, it requires separate antennas for the transmit and receive sides. My airplane has a ~25-year-old coax dipole antenna, and the "CW McCall's...
