FAA doesn't know FBOs. by Kyler Laird
In another thread, I asked if the FAA keeps track of FBOs. I decided to submit that question to the FAA. I received a timely and complete response. You asked if FAA maintains a list of fixed base operators for each airport. The FAA does not. You need to contact the individual airports for...

Midwest Fuel Prices by T. J. Moore
Good morning, I just wanted to drop everyone a note that Lake in the Hills Airport (3CK) has some of the lowest fuel prices in the midwest and the lowest in Northern Illinois. We're trying to get our name out there. We think we have a lot to offer at 3CK and want to let people know we're here. Fly...

747-100 Checklist by Bartscher
I recently acquired a control wheel off of a 747-135 (formerly N620US / N77772) as a piece of aviation memorabilia. I'd like to get an original airline checklist to put on the clipboard. This 747 flew for Northwest and National during its career, so ideally I'd like to find a checklist from one of...

I'm looking for any information or photographs relating to the icing experiments carried out with the Concorde during the early 1970s. The experiments consisted of the Concorde flying behind a water spraying aircraft (a A&AEE Canberra). Fine particles of water were sprayed by the Canberra and the...

AI self-levelling by MC
Does anyone know how fast a gyro AI will self-level ? (degrees/hour ?, %/minute ?) It can't be too fast as it'll indicate level-flight whilst still in a climb or dive, and it can't be too slow else it'll take ages to recover from a disturbance or startup. TIA.

Ground effect effectiveness by Tony
I haven't found a decent reference for this -- can anyone help? Consider a clean low speed airplane -- maybe one of the kit built ones. Does anyone have some quantitative measure of how much drag is reduced if the airplane is flown say half or quarter of a wingspan above the ocean? Would we be...

Narco DME by zatatime
My friend has a Narco 190 DME for sale and I told him I'd see if there was any interest here. I know it works well and it seems as though the price is right at $100.00. I don't have room for it, or I'd buy it for myself. Does anyone have any interest in a Narco 190 DME? Other input is also...
