Navcom - handheld VS panel ? by
[email protected]
Hello everyone - my first posting here.
I'm in the process of equipping my Earthstar thundergull with avionics.
This is a very light tandem 2 seater.
I was wondering what type of navcom to go with...handheld or panel
mounted.
Panel space is limited , so a panel radio choice would probably be...

AVWEB: Still Alive? by
Tim Hickey
Does the emagazine AVWEB still exist? I have not received a copy since
September. I re-subscribed on their web site, but still no joy.
I suspect that my ISP spam filter is taking them out, but I need to
know that they are still working before I yell at the ISP.
Thanks
Zenith CH-300 Driver.

At Dear Ol' AVL Airport, Asheville, NC by
jls
In order to be a flight instructor you need 5,000 feet hangar space, 1,500
feet office space, plus two airplanes, one of which must be IFR certified.
This is the official rule, in writing and enforced by the airport authority.
What this effectively does is exclude any competition for the one...

Hyabusa flat 8 by
bildan
'been scratchin' some paper.
It looks like a 2.6L flat opposed 8-cylinder could be made will not
too much difficulty from two Suzuki Hyabusa motorcycle cylinder
blocks. The electronic fuel injected 'busa puts out about 130HP so
two theoretically could make 260HP.
With 8 cylinders, the power...

Awesome, free anti-virus program by
Ken Sandyeggo
I've been using the free AVG anti-virus program for probably a couple
years now. It runs automatically at a time you set and upgrades are
frequent and free. It has caught several viruses. I installed it on
a friend's computer who had Norton running. After I installed it from
AVG's website, it...

Headset wiring schmeatic by
L.D.
I have a flightcom headset and the cord to the plugs has deteriorated,
been patched over and over, so I took plugs off some time ago and used
them some where else. Now someone has given me a cord with plugs and I
need to know how to wire the mic plug. Out of the headset for the mic
there are 3...

Is there a trick for installing a Tinnerman spring nut? by
Michael Horowitz
Folks -
I know that if I get someone to sit inside and hold the flat Tinnerman
fastener, I can screw in a machine screw from beneath the a/c. This is
not the type of fasterner that clips on to the edge of the metal.
For one person trying to either install or remove a screw from the
afore mentioned...

Robin Williams World Peace Plan by
Fastglasair
This may very well be the best thought out item we have read since 9/11/01.
Leave it to Robin Williams to come up with the perfect plan ... what we need
now is for our UN Ambassador to stand up and repeat this message.
I see a lot of people yelling for peace but I have not heard of a plan...

question KR-2 or KR-2s construction by
BA
hi,
I am seriously looking into getting my pilots license and building a
homebuilt airplane (via purchase of a kit....preferably a fastbuilt kit or
one with low construction time (around 1000 hrs or less).
anyway, I love a lot about the KR-2 (mostly the kit price and the fuel
economy). I have...

Rotax 912 Full Throttle Springs by
Mark Callahan
I have recently acquired a Sea Rey equipped with the Rotax 912S
engine. While familiarizing myself with the carburetor synchronization
procedure, I noticed that the springs that open the throttle in the
event of a throttle cable disconnect appear to be backwards. The
documentation indicates that...

Cleaning up brushes/dope? by

Folks -
I applied some aluminium-pigmented dope to some fabric.
Tried cleaning up with Mineral Spirits. Not satisfactory.
Cleaned up with butyrate thinner.
Don't wanna use MEK (sorta scared of it)
Anything else make a go cleaner-upper? Looking for something more

Hey, fellers...
I was always taught that if a subject started in the newsgroups, it STAYED in
the newsgroups. Lately it seems more and more that in answer to some aviation
thread in these groups, I'm getting an email request for more information.
Please, if it starts in these groups, let's KEEP...
