Back in the air. by
Oz Lander[_2_]
Well, it's almost 2 months since I last flew, due to maintenance issues
and a holiday interstate.
I had a lesson today, and was feeling fairly confident that I hadn't
become too rusty, due to constant visualisation and going over stuff in
my head. I was slightly nervous about the a/c as it's wings...

CFI training cost? by
gatt
Hey, all. For purposes of ballparking my budget next year, I'm wondering
what it costs Joe Average Pilot, CP-ASEL-IA to get his CFI these days.
Any new CFIs care to discuss? Thanks!

Note to everyone: Beware forged posts by
Jim Logajan
I see someone has targeted several people who post to r.a.p and r.a.h and
begun forging their names in the "From" headers and posted troll-like posts
in an attempt to "Joe Job" the targets. Or it may simply be an attempt to
disrupt the newsgroups (more than usual, that is!). At the moment all...

C172 charter in LA by
Timo
Hi
I have plans to visit the USA this September for 3 weeks. There i'd
like to charter a C172 for 12 to 14 days. Starting point would be LA
(California). Does anybody know a serious company or flight school
where it is possible to charter a C172 in the LA area?
Kind regards
Timo / Switzerland

Stupid transponder question, or, stumped by the wife by
John Kirksey
So we were watching "Seconds From Disaster" on NGC last night, which
happened to be on AA 77. When they mentioned that seconds after gaining
control of the aircraft the hijackers turned off the transponder (along with
a brief explanation of what the transponder does), my wife simply says:
"That's...

Landing Decision by
Charles Talleyrand
A Cessna Conquest landing at gross weight over 50 foot trees in no wind
and perfect pilot technique needs 2150 feet.
You are flying for hire a Cessna Conquest. The runway is 3,501 feet
long. The 7 knot winds favor runway 8. You're in perfect position for a
landing on runway 26, with trees over...

Aircraft without pilots by

I'm just starting an appropriately-named thread for this topic, as it seems
like something worthy of discussion.
The specter of full automation replacing pilots entirely continues to loom
ever larger in commercial and military aviation. The old arguments against it
are beginning to ring quite...

It is costly fuel. Right? by
neo
Like cars, mass production of personal plane is possible. Mass training
of pilots who can work on pay equal to pay of car-driver is possible.
But still i do not see planes in sky.
Reason is costly fuel. Am i right?
