Autopilot PIREPS by pgbnh
My partner and I have decided it is time to upgrade the old 'wing-leveller' autopilot (Century I) to a real autopilot. We will likely be looking for either 2 or 3 axis (altitude would be nice, but we need to factor in cost) and will couple it to the Garmin 530. AP to be installed in a Beech...

Power port by Javier Henderson
Would anyone know (and care to tell me) where to find the power ports found these days on airliners? I'd like to replace the cigarette lighter socket in my Skylane with one of those. Thanks. -jav

DRVSM by Roger Long
I see on AOPA's web site that the FAA has blown off AOPA and all the other industry groups on DRVSM implementation. Does not getting your biz jet or turboprop outfitted with this equipment mean you won't be able to fly it above FL 290 or only at the new intermediate levels? -- Roger Long

AirGuide Publications FlightGuide Update Delays by George Sconyers
How are those that are using AirGuide Publications FlightGuide finding the timeliness of their bi-annual updates? It seems to me that they are running quite a but behind as of late with the updates - but not on their billing for the next year. For those that have been using them for some time,...

The A-65 Overhaul/Buy question by [email protected]
Here and elsewhere I've been exploring the possibility of buying an a/c with an A-65 engine which has exceed TBO. We've learned the TBO figure isn't gospel, but it probably isn't a bad idea to be thinking about an overhaul. For the purpose of this discussion, let's assume something has occurred and...

Damn, The Archer ain't ever going to be good enough again! by Bob Chilcoat
Was in the Bay Area near San Fransciso last week and called an old friend to see if he wanted to go flying. Great, he says, meet me at my office at 4:00 PM and we'll go up. It's an absolutely beautiful afternoon. Cloudless sky, little haze, no wind, and green everywhere (it's the two weeks after...

OMF Aircraft - any experience? by Ross Rehfeld
The upcoming OMF-4 looks like a lot of plane at a whole lot less than a 182. Anyone have thoughts on how they like their current OMF planes? Thanks, Ross Rehfeld

Aircraft rewiring by Brinks
I'm thinking about redoing the panel in the '57 C182A. Since I'm not going to be able to afford to put the latest and greatest radios in, I'm going to have to stick with the tried-and-true equipment right now (Kx-155, KI-209, KMA-24, KT-76, Northstar M3, PS501). Eventually I'd like to get to a...

Vacuun pump failed? by RAM
Today noticed the vacuum gauge starting to inch upward. Climbed from 5.0 to almost 8.0 in 5 minutes. DG and AI acting normal the whole time. Then....dropped to zero and the gyros obviously quit. I only have experienced 1 vacuum pump failure before and it just dropped to zero without climbing first....

Last post on wrong thread. DOH! "soxinbox" wrote in message news:... You can buy a cheap multimeter at radio shack for about 10 bucks. Put it on continuity and you are good to go. I know it is not as fun as building it yourself. Just think of it as a kit with one part. ...
