Eclipse 500 by
Neil Gould
Hi all,
I was very impressed by the article on the Eclipse 500 in the latest AOPA
magazine. After so much skepticism, criticism, and so forth, it appears
that the promised aircraft is about to be delivered. I was particularly
impressed by the description of the development process, and by...

A new twist on complaints by
Roger
Well, here we go again although so far there is just the one nut.
A few years back there was an organized effort to close Midland
Barstow (3BS). Of course the argument was noise even though we were
here first. As the noise issue was not working they tried to fire up
the residents by complaining...

PDA GPS software Which one?? by
Kevin Black
Hi,
Firstly I'm in Australia and VFR. I have a Garmin III Pilot, but am also
about to purchase an iPaq PDA. Rather than upgrade to a colour GARMIN
(296/396) at megabucks I thought I could get similar functionality using
the PDA. Costings seem to be PDA nil (it's a sunk cost I'm going to buy
it...

Another pilot grounded by insurance by
Roger Long
By this time tomorrow I will probably be posting my good-by to this
group and the most interesting and rewarding adventure of my life.
During an insurance review today we learned that our umbrella policy
will only cover aircraft risks if I also have an aviation policy that
covers each person up to...

GPS altitude vs altimeter altitude by
Chris W
It is my understanding that even if a GPS is reading perfectly and your
standard altimeter is reading perfectly even on a standard day that the
2 values will not be the same. Does anyone know about how far off they
are and if there is a way to calculate what the difference should be?
My guess is...

Aleutian Island airports? by
Cub Driver
What's the farthest west civilian airport in the Aleutians? I see
military airports on Shemya and Attu: what happens if a civilian
aircraft comes along and politely asks to join the traffic pattern?

Lycoming's views on best economy settings by

I was searching via Google for informational schematics, or even just
a written description, on Lycoming's fuel injection system because
it's different from Continental's.
I came across Lycoming's website in which a number of technical and
informational articles reside.

Logging time in a P51D? by
justaguy
Anybody care to take a shot at this question?
I took a ride in a P51D recently. After we left the pattern the
owner, in the front seat, let me (in the back seat) take over the
stick for the next hour. Then in the pattern he took over and landed.
I was the only one who touched the controls for an...

Winter flying with retractable gear? by
Paul Tomblin
This will be my first winter flying the club's Lance. One instructor told
me that you want to tap the brakes before retracting the gear to dislodge
any slush or snow so that it doesn't freeze in the wheel well, and I read
somebody else saying that you should hold off retracting the gear...

Landing Streaks by
Jay Honeck
I've noticed something about my landings over the last few years, and
wondered if you folks have had the same experience?
After my first 100 hours or so, my landings were pretty consistently okay.
A nice one every now and then, adequate ones the rest of the time. Every
now and then a crosswind...

Getting used to the Arrow...and I like it...a lot! by
Jack Allison
To date I have a whopping 8 hours in the Arrow. The last 2.9 were by
far the most fun since the two flights involved maneuvers and landings
(lots of landings). The more I get to fly N2104T, the more I like it.
Things are becoming more and more comfortable and familiar. Still have
lots to learn...

It is costly fuel. Right? by
neo
Like cars, mass production of personal plane is possible. Mass training
of pilots who can work on pay equal to pay of car-driver is possible.
But still i do not see planes in sky.
Reason is costly fuel. Am i right?
