Repairing Plastic by
Jay Honeck
The faceplate on my Narco CP-136 Audio Panel was broken off (and glued back
together) before I bought the plane. The left side of the faceplate, where 2
retaining screws attach it to the metal chassis, had been glued at least
once before I bought it, and my avionics shop had glued it back together...

steve
I need to remove my KLN 35A but I can't figure out how - small hole in the
front - I assumed it was for an allen wrench - none of mine fit it - too
small for a tiny screwdriver - what's the secret to getting this thing out ?
The battery in the unit is going dead and needs to be replaced - figured...

Nose gear failure by
Greg Esres
Technical question regarding gear extension mechanisms:
Our flight school's Seneca had a nosewheel collapse today during
rollout after a landing. The instructor, pilot, and witnesses agree
that all of the airplanes 5 landings were good; none hard and
certainly no nosewheel landings. The lights...

Garmin 296 and FliteStar by
Rich Raine
I recently bought a Garmin 296 and found I can not upload route or data from
the 296 to Flitestar. The Garmin 295 worked flawlessly. I have the serial
cable and the USB cable. Neither one will allow this transfer.
Does anyone have any better experience? If not beware...I wouldn't...

EGT Problem by
Dennis O'Connor
Two possible causes, Newps...
One is a broken wire(s) going to the instrument panel where moving the wire
around to work on the lugs causes the broken ends to abrade and make better
contact for a while, and then they reoxidize... This is high on my
suspicion list since it is the same two wire...

Pilots Uniform: Good idea?? by
[email protected]
General aviation is under attack: Many 'forces' would like it to go to
the dust bin of history.
Aircraft charter services, fractional ownership etc is growing leaps
and bounds and as such, more than EVER, FBO's are LOADED with NON
FLYING persons waiting to be picked up for a charter or...

We need to replace the quick drain on the bottom of our Lyc O-360-A1A. The
valve for the application is the CCB-37000. Does anyone know the correct

Analog tach replacement by
Mike Noel
I have suspected for a while that my old analog tach was lying to me. My
Archer's static RPM at take-off was measuring about 22k and the minimum spec
was 2325, but the plane seemed to have good cruise speed. When I pointed an
optical tach through the windshield I read a static RPM of 23.4K. ...

Mystery avionics identification??? by

Well, it's a mystery to me anyway. Does anyone know what brand and model,
the nav/com, loran, adf, and dme are in the following photo? I'm sure the
top nav/com is Collins vhf-251 and 351, but the nav/com below that one? And
the others? Also, can anyone identify the transponder in the second...

Club insurance? by

It's that time of year again. It's time for our club to renew it's
insurance. We're currently with AVEMCO but want to try to find something
less expensive. They also impose a limit on the # of members we can have
per airplane and would like to get out from under that restriction. Any...

PA28-180 Wing Jack recomendations by
Mike Noel
Thinking about buying a wing jack for my Archer. I see a couple of designs
sold by Spruce, one a simple hydraulic jack with an adapter for cradling the
bottom of the main gear strut, another designed to catch the coned lift
point under the wing. Is there a reason to prefer one style over the...

"W" is JFK's son and Bush revenge killed Kennedy in 1963 by
Ross C. Bubba Nicholson
JFK gave Barbara Pierce a lesson in life in the summer of 1944 (making
her a "Cape Cod heiress"), and to her eventual husband, JFK gave a
personal motive for revenge. Perhaps if George and Barb had announced
their earlier engagement or even if George had given Barb a diamond
instead of a cheap...

Cessna nose oleo seals by
[email protected]
In the Cessna 172's nosewheel strut are several O-rings, but the
one that seals against the chrome piston sometimes twists in its groove
and a spiral failure (tear) occurs. All the outer-cavity oil escapes,
then the nitrogen leaves and the strut goes flat. The failure appears
to happen rather...

Tire opinions? by

Hey, all... as usual, I figured I'd try to get some opinions on
a new purchase for the Cherokee. Mains are worn out, and I am leaning
towards some McCreary AirHawks. Any thoughts? The plane sits outside,
but has been getting lots of flying in of late. I find it hard to believe
that a tire that...
