banked pilots by mah
During the early 90's there were more pilots than flight slots and some were "banked" for future needs and assigned to nonflying duties. When did they all get returned to flight duty? I was looking for information but couldn't get a good result from a web search. Thanks MAH

Military sources in Harare say that Zimbabwe will acquire 12 FC-1s as replacements for the Chengdu F-7s, currently based in Gweru. The FC-1, a lightweight multipurpose fighter based on Russia's MiG-33, will provide a credible answer to the challenge posed by the 28 JAS-39 Gripen multi-role fighters...

It was now the 21st. The sky was heavlky overcast with a lot of ground fog as well and freezing temperatures. We all walked around looking at the sky for any sign of a break in the weather. Then we all descended on the Metro office where our weatherman 1st.Lt. Paul Forant (Boston) was working up...

Bear question by Jim Doyle
Just yesterday a friend asked me if there were stability issues during the design of the Tu-20. This was on account of its extremely long and slender fuselage which obviously presents a huge mmt arm. I though maybe cruise/drag considerations or structure limitations may have been the rationale...

Beaufighter NF coded RX-A, July 1942, UK by Krztalizer
Got a couple nifty photos in today - both sourced from a 456 RAAF Beaufighter crewman. One is of great interest to me as it shows four members of the unit - a 2-man flight crew, an erk, and a jovial sort that is making a show of wearing a wireless set connecting him to the flightcrew. These people...

Beautiful B-25 restoration. by jwalters
Hey Guys, Just a quick note on the Cavanaugh Flight Museum at Addison Field, Texas. They have some of the most beautifully restored aircraft I've ever seen. Their planes compare favorably to those at the NASM, NMNA at NAS Pensacola, Wright-Pat., and any other flight museum I've visited. Everything...

Beech Starship? SpaceShipOne? by DunxC
Hi, I watched the fantastic coverage of SpaceShipOne's historic flight yesterday and was truly impressed. I've long thought of Burt Rutan as the last of the pioneers, and this one cements it. However, did I really see a Beech Starship flying past also? I though Beech (or parent company) had...

Believe It or Not... by robert arndt
http://www.rense.com/1.imagesD/Bruno121.jpg This 1962 UFO actually bears a strong resemblence to a Horten proposal done postwar for the US Govt! I know you guys think that's funny but what are the chances again? Most post-WW2 UFO configurations match Vril, Haunebu, Lippisch, and Horten designs...
