Tiny vacuum pump by Jim Weir
Does anybody have an idea on how to make a tiny little vacuum pump on the order of an aquarium pump or so that will draw just a few inches of water? Preferably 110, but I can rig up a 12 volt supply if necessary. The reason I say this is that I'm getting ready to pack a fairly large number...

Sun Visor Replacement by [email protected]
I bought a set of Rosen sun visors for my Skyhawk about 6 years ago. I hit some turbulence that slammed my head against the cockpit ceiling and my headset smashed the visor. These were about $250 for the set. Now I want to replace the broken one, and (of course) Sporty's will ONLY sell the pair...

A simple Flight to ACY by Kobra
Hello fellow flyers, My apologies in advance if this is boring. This is my very first attempt at making a video of any kind. Give it a look and all comments are welcome. BTW, I already know I didn't hold the centerline on lift-off (embarrassed look). ALieb noticed that right away. I had a...

Apollo 820 GPS by flps_74
Hello all, Our old panel mounted (yes very old) Apollo 820 GPS by IIMorrow appears to have kicked the can. When turned on it goes through it's usual sequence but eventually emits a red warning along with the message "GPS unable to compute position". There appears to be reception of satellites...

Light Sport Aircraft for Private Pilots (Long) by Jimbob
Hi all. I'm a current student pilot(PPSEL) and I have been reading up on the new sport pilot/LSA stuff that has come about. My interest, like most potential pilots, is to eventually own an aircraft, but that will be several years down the road. However, the new Light Sport Aircraft class caught...

C-182's to avoid? by Alan Browne
I was speaking with a somewhat smug fellow the other day who claimed older C-182's (1968 that I'm looking at) had inefficient wings and that the Continental would not make it to 1500 hours; 1300 if I'm lucky. (The one I'm looking at has 61 SMOH; about 5000 total; new paint, interior, etc.). As...

Transponder replacement suggestions by [email protected]
Hey all... just got official confirmation that my KT76's power output is way low.... classic sign of weak/dying/dead cavity tube. Just looking for suggestions on what might be a good, cost-effective replacement. I'm tired of futzing with transponders so I'm pretty sure I want a solid-state...
