AV-SUN readers/sunglasses by The Ponderosa
I note this seemingly great idea advertised @ $79.95. Getting older I now need some magnification when reading charts and find it a real pain changing several times per trip between my RAY BANS and 1.75 readers with my headset on. Anyone tried this product? Your experiences, or is there...

Talk me out of this... by Paul Folbrecht
Me: 7x hour recently licenced PP-SEL. Plane: '79 C152 being sold by my FBO for $19,200. TT is around 8000 (I think), SMOH is 2050. Annual just done. This looks like an Ok deal to me when comparing to like models, but the clincher is that they are throwing in one year of hangering as well. That...

Garmin G1000 by Foster
Interesting: In the current issue of Flying, on page 40 there is a small article about Diamond selecting the Garmin G1000 for the Twin Star. But Garmin has not yet announced a G1000. Appears somebody goofed on timing their press releases. JJF

Full-throttle Take Off in Mooney M20J by Evan Salant
I have read conflicting recommendations for take-off power in a M20J. Some people seem to suggest that it's best to reduce MP/RPM to 25/2500 after 500 feet, while others suggest full throttle/2600 until cruise altitude reached. Any thoughts ?

Resource for choosing a plane? by Douglas Paterson
So, I've decided to go for my first airplane. As I get started looking for "the" airplane, I'm hoping I can find some help here in narrowing my choices. The more I look, the more overwhelmed I get. I'm starting to think that finding & buying the damn thing will be anticlimactic--deciding *what*...

Testing your glide. Are people doing this? by Montblack
("Yossarian" wrote in the Catalina Perep thread) My first trip I was that low too, but now my FBO insists on a continuous climb to the middle of the channel for better glide distance if your engine quits. 4500' in a 172 is only like 7 miles glide. I wonder how many people have actually...

buy or rent a 2006 182 by Dan Luke
Since it looks very much like I will be sans airplane in a week or so, I've been kicking around options for future flying. My general bad feeling about owning an airplane in Mobile notwithstanding, there's still a chance I could buy another airplane if renting a 2006 Cessna 182T from the local...

All info will be kept completely confidential. https://survey.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_5tiEx8dQwmapJRO I know there is so much spam now that nobody...

PA28 gas cap by Frank Van Haste
Hi. We had to buy a new fuel tank cap for the Archer (don't ask) and the shop sez the price on the part (not including painting) is about $177. Can anybody verify that that's really what the little round guy costs? Frank

King KX155 question by Kobra
Flyers, I have a Bendix-King KX155 which I use as my primary radio. Lately I have major distortion only on certain frequencies. For example I frequently talk to Atlantic City Approach on 134.25 and the reception is garbled. I have limited data on some things since this is a new problem. But I...

Piper Colt child seat STC by R. Wubben
I have been toying around with the idea of buying a Colt or a Tri-Pacer (having just foolishly sold my Ercoupe) and ran across an ad for a Colt with a child seat STC. I did a google search, a deja/google group search (on rec.aviation) and looked at the Short wing Piper web site and found nothing...

buying my first airplane? Better hurry because Monday we have the prebuy inspection to go thru. If that goes well then probably by the end of next week I'll be an airplane owner (co-owner actually). I have really gotten a lot out of this and the Mooney owners news and email groups. It appears...
