flying for a charity by
Kyler Laird
I've tried to follow the "charitable airlift" discussions here over the
years and it usually makes my head hurt. I was just contacted with a
request to transport and I could really use some Usenet-level advice.
(Yeah, I've got AOPA legal services but I get better info here.)
There's a Rottweiler...

Help Our UAL Friends by
Orval Fairbairn
A neighbor, who is UAL (ret) asked me to circulate this one.
They make some pretty good points, as the UAL people currently stand to
get reamed pretty badly.

Due to the bankruptcies of Delta and Northwest there is a very strong
call in Washington for immediate pension relief.*...

Hire of aircraft in France by
SWK
Hello folks,
I will be in Paris in about a fortnights time and was hoping that I
could hire an aircraft to do some private flying. Somewhere to the
north or northeast in preference. The license side I have already
sorted out.
I have found a few aeroclubs in the area which seem to be OK, but...

Eagles Day at Greenwood Lake Airport (4N1), West Milford, NJ, in

Close-up pictures of knobs/panels? by
GEG
I have a need to get some close-up images
of knobs and/or control panels of aircraft
to create my own rendering of a panel.
I'd like to overlay different knob types to
get a feel of how it will look.
Can anyone point me to a source or have any
help they can offer?

When did planes become wings? by
The Thunder Child
I've been reading a 1910 Tom Swift book - Tom Swift and his Airship, in
which the dirigible is also outfitted with "planes" - i.e., wings.
And of course that's where monoplane, biplane and triplane come from,
though I confess I'd never connected the two.
So, can anyone tell me when an aeroplane's...

Converting non-US certificate to US by
Roy Smith
I've been asked to investigate, on behalf of some applicants to my
flying club, the procedure to take a non-US pilot certificate to a US
one. I got some good info from AOPA, but if there's anybody who's
actually been through the process and would be willing to share the
experience, I'd appreciate...

Shooing hangar sparrows by
[email protected]
So I've got this big new glider hangar with a 60 foot door opening, and
while I like birds (in this case sparrows / fly-catchers), my Yorkie
dog goes nuts when they are in "her hangar". They don't nest but
occasionally poop, being birds after all.
Any suggestions on how to humanely repel /...

Jet Blue On CNN by
John A. Weeks III
Anyone else watch the Jet Blue Airbus on CNN
do the emergency landing at LAX with the nose
gear pointed crossways? It is worth checking
out the highlights on CNN to watch it. That
had to be one of the best and smoothest landings
I have ever seen. The pilot really greased it
in, and held the nose...
