Flight Planning to Las vegas from Bay area by
Troy Towner
Hello all,
I was just wondering which route most pilots took from the bay area to Las
Vegas. I had looked at the sectional and wondered if the Mammoth pass
(Friant VOR 023 radial to Mammoth) had been attempted, and how safe it
was... Just looking for a route any suggestions would be great! I would...

Restricted Medications by

I have searched the FAA site for a list of restricted medications, but with
no luck. Does anybody have a link? My doctor wants me to start cholesterol
medication. Will this void my medical?
Thanks

Buzzing Fatality by
Bushy
After I completed my training, by 300 hour 20 year old instructors, (who
taught me soft field for my flight test, while admitting that they had
NEVER landed on anything other than a surfaced runway) I went to a
Northern BC bush pilot with over 20,000 hours and asked him to give me
some...

Bad Stories about Plane Purchases by
Jon Kraus
I am looking into purchasing my own plane... I think that I am pretty
aware of the costs (as much as a non-owner can be). I would like to
hear from those of you who have unfortunately have had a bad (expensive
or otherwise)experience with a plane purchase. I will also post for good
experiences. ...

A plaugue of TFRs by
Ben Jackson
Tommorow the Blue Angels will be practicing near Hillsboro, OR in the
afternoon at the same time a Presidential TFR is active in an overlapping
area. You think they'll shoot down the Blues?
Looks like I picked a hell of a day to try to fly from Hillsboro to
Seattle!

Beer (was Worst Jokes At Oshkosh) by

In article , Anthony wrote:
Now for a Brit joke. Why do Brits drink warm beer? Lucas refrigerators.
Seriously, it's because the beer actually tastes of something (all you
get with ice cold lager is the taste of the CO2 and alcohol and not much
else)....

Rare Bird found at Katama [1b2] Martha's Vineyard Island, Mass. by
Doug
I see two angles coming on this one.... Damn environmentalists....
1. Non-native species invades local eco-system, creates trouble for local
wildlife.
2. Rare species found now requires protection, close the airfield and 1000
acres of former public land now bird sanctuary.

Flying Friday through the TFRs by
C J Campbell
I had several flights scheduled for Friday. The first one in the morning did
not go; my CFI student and I spent the whole lesson discussing how to teach
students how to preflight an airplane.
The second was our scheduled air taxi service to Roche Harbor. We left at
1:00 pm so the TFR did not...

Yeah, but then it was Ousterhout's joke; at Osh it was Jim's joke. Sorta like you
hated your father's car until he gave it to you. Then it was great.

I have no intention of flying commercially, ME, or in actual IFR (but will
get the rating), but do want to track taildragger...

Airplane Parnerships by

What would be some ways to get in touch with someone when looking for a
partner to share in the joys (and sorrows) of aircraft ownership? I am
going to try placing flyers at the local FBO's. I thought about
downloading the Airmans database from the FAA and pulling out all the
pilots with current...

floats coming on and off by
Robert M. Gary
Talking with some of the sea plane operations, it seems pretty common
to take floats on and off. However, the rigging and all for the floats
(rudders, etc) seems complicated. Is it actually that easy to put
floats on and off? If I bought a Champ could I just pick up a used
pair of EDO float and put...

"Cleared Straight-In Runway X; Report Y Miles Final" by
Jim Cummiskey
Hi, all. Ran into this one flying back from KOSH a couple weeks ago:
I check in with the KPRC controller "20 Miles NE" of Love Field in Prescott,
AZ. She clears me with "Cleared Straight-in Runway 21L, Report 5 miles
final."
I fly directly towards the numbers. My heading was approximately...
