Loosing my newsgroup feed by Anthony W
I got an eMail from Verizon this morning saying that they are dropping their news server. I'm not going to pay for a subscription to a newsgroup service for 2 groups so my question to the group is: what eMail list would you recommend to replace this group? I'm already on the Chuggers list but...

Ballistic Rocket Chute FS by Victor Bravo
I have a rocket deployed ballistic recovery chute for sale on ebay. It is a Second Chantz model Aerosafe 550. One or two dents in the case but that should not affect it's functionality. It is used... but never used. It should be re-packed by a parachute rigger before being mounted on an aircraft....

Driving sheet-metal screws into 4130 by Grandpa B.
Greetings, all. I'm restoring a Champ, and have a question about driving screws into a drilled 4130 tube. If I drill the proper sized hole, the screws refuse to 'take'; they simply give up their threads to the harder metal of the tube. If I over-size the hole, then the screw won't hold diddley...

Nut/thread securing compound by nauga
Eugene Wendland wrote... Does anyone know what compound is used to secure the nuts and threads on aviation engines? Sounds like you're talking about inspection lacquer. It's not really a securing compound, it just chips and flakes if the material moves. Wicks has it (www.wicksaircraft.com),...

Can we talk about the Randolph problem? by Michael Horowitz
Folks - Back in June I began trying to get products from Randolph distributors. Heard stories of the factory relocating and problems with HAZMAT licenses; I'm sympathetic to a point, but..... I need a copy of Jim Weir's Aero 'Lectrics article "Make the Worlds Cheapest Intercom." An electronic copy would be best, but a paper copy will work too. I could send a SASE, stamps, etc. Thanks! David Ridding

Your Chance to Design a Fly-In by Jay Honeck
Okay, so I've been "volunteered" to be on the board of directors of the biggest fly-in event in Iowa City's history, the Eastern Iowa Big Kids Toy Show, scheduled for May 20 - 21, 2006. See us at www.BigKidToyShow.com (Yes, they made me wear a -- *sob* -- TIE for the photos... It was awful! ...

Weight and Balance by Dale Larsen
The local FSDO has this form they want submitted before scheduling an inspection. It asks for (1) "Net empty C.G. range" and (2) "Loaded C.G. limits". Now I know that my C.G. has to fall within 15-28% of chord, and I can easily figure that out. It works out to 77.95 to 84.84 inches aft of datum....
