Smyrna, TN ( MQY) info request by
WinstonCup
Hello,
I am planning on flying to Nashville next week and will most likely file to
MQY. I have a couple of questions. Any opinions/comments are welcome.
1. FBO comments? (Corporate Flight vs Smyrna Air Center? friendliness,
special fees, fuel prices etc. ?)
2. BNA vs MQY? (Is there any...

Bockscar pilot Charles Sweeney RIP by
Cub Driver
I just now learned that then-Major Charles Sweeney, the pilot of
Bockscar on the Nagasaki mission, died in Boston last Thursday at the
age of 84. According to an obituary this morning in the Aero-News
email newsletter:
A staunch defender of the atomic missions, Sweeney told Quincy
(MA) Patriot...

IFR in G airspace? by
Thomas Borchert
Gatt,
American envy German freeways, and let me tell you it isn't just Germany.
After a look at the accident statistics, you wouldn't anymore. I vastly prefer
long distance driving in the US to Germany. You can't go really fast in
Germany anymore anyway, either there are speed limits or too...

Aero club rates by

In a previous article, Andrew Gideon said:
BTW, isn't 60 people and 4 airplanes tight? We've 45 and 4, and we're
always looking at how to improve "availability".
We're 52 and 5 right now, and trying to get an airplane on a summer
weekend is an exercise in pre-planning and...

Medical Implications of Sport Pilot Rule by
Cub Driver
This means that if there is any question of eligibility for a medical
certificate, it may become worthwhile to schedule an "aeromedical
consultation" or "aeromedical office visit" with your AME before you fill
out an actual application for a medical certificate.
I like the word "consultation"....

So, let me see if I can follow your convoluted logic.
you can't even follow a "fup2poster".
We can hardly follow your English. I have no idea what the above line

Wrong pilot detained.... by
Jay Honeck
the more the Russians and the French disagree
with us, the more likely it is that we are following the correct course.
Excellent phrasing, and too true.

DAFIF going away? by
Paul Tomblin
For my waypoint generators, my main source for data for outside of the US
is the Digital Aeronautical Flight Information File, a product of the US
National Geospatial Intelligence Agency NGA (Formerly NIMA - National
Intelligence and Mapping Agency, I think, but that's not relevant anyway).
I've...

Cirrus for Duats by

I've been using Cirrus for DUATS over my cable modem for years. My drive
crashed recently and I reinstalled the program. Now I can't get it to
aurtomatically log in and get the weather info I ask for. It just comes to
the prompt and asks for my name. From there I have to type...

Amphibian down on Mt Kearsarge by
[email protected]
My wife told me about a single engine amphibian that crashed Monday
with one (of two occupants aboard) fatalities. A man and his son were
in the airplane. The father was able to call 911 with his cell phone
after the crash. Rescuers had a hard time finding the crash due to
the extremely dense...

Online Aviation Marketplaces by
DanH
Hello
I am helping a friend sell an airplane and a home in an airpark. I
would like to get suggestions from this group as to good online forums
and marketplaces to post these items.
I've never been in the market for either of these items, so I don't know
much about where to go.
Where do you...

Ground speed control by
Roger Long
I floated this as a idea a while ago. I've done it every flight since and I'
m ready to advocate it. It may not work with every engine but it works great
with our O-320 H2AD.
For taxi, I set RPM to 1000 and lean to maximum RPM. Thereafter, I control
engine speed with the mixture instead of the...

restaurant at the airport? If so...

instrument rated, coming back from Rogers, AR to Fort Smith after a

wanted to fly just...
