Suitable glider avionics by James
Has anyone had any experience with this company, Aveotech? They make electronic instruments (altimeter, ASI, and VSI, etc.) that look suitable for gliders which are a lot less expensive than mechanical ones. Their altimeters also keep a log. www.aveousa.com

My daughter has the bug bad and really wants to fly with me. I find it great. Now what are some of the 2-place that have around 30+l/d and still allow for purchase without a mortage? Pros and cons with handling in the air and ground greatly appreciated! Spring is almost here! Larry in Avenal. Home...

A tragedy - a Minden death today! by David Bingham
Hi Gang As we all know Mother Nature can be unforgiving to errors in the air. Alan Pratt who was an experienced pilot bought a Carat motor glider about 4 months ago. This single place motor glider is one of the most benign machines available. I flew the first in the US and gave it a rave...

Magnus Effect by COLIN LAMB
If a wing is replaced by a rotating cylinder, with the forward surface rotating upward, lift will be produced. The local air velocity is high on top and low on the bottom. This upward force is known as magnus effect. The information above comes from my helicopter handbook. The theory is used to...

LX5000 + iPAQ by Ludovic Launer
Hello, Looking at the LX navigation and Filser website (by the way what's the relation between these two ?), there's one thing which isn't 100% clear to me: I'll soon have a LX5000 FAI, and I'd like to connect my iPAQ running winpilot to it. If I look at the wiring diagram, they are 2 RS232...

winglets for LS-1 by Brad
A friend of mine is considering installing winglets on his LS-1C. Has anyone ever seen or heard of an LS-1 with winglets? Is there a retro-fit installation for winglets available? I know that the Libelle has a winglet kit, so perhaps the LS-1 has one too. Cheers, Brad Apis 13

H201 Libelle and wing dropping by ruediger
Since 3 month I am proud owner of a H201B with 17m wingspan and "Speizklappen". The glider I owned for 4 years, before i bought the Libelle was a Astir CS77. I like the handling of the Libelle very much, the only point I really have problems with, is that the Libelle loves to drop a wing at the...
