Comparing Drjack XCSkies RASP and TopMeteo - U.S. Soaring - Comments? by
WaltWX[_2_]
I am interested in hear U.S. glider pilot comments on the pros/cons of all these sites for soaring forecasts. I have used them all at one time or another and find them generally comparable. But, some like RASP and DrJack do a much better job of locating convergence zones/shear lines....

Borgelt B50 Wiring Diagram? by
JohnDeRosa
I am helping a friend wire an old Borgelt V50. It appears that the only diagram for what goes where on the rear terminals is on the top of the housing. Unforfuntately, this diagram has been obliterated by someone.
The manual doesn't have a wiring diagram. It doesn't even say much of anything...

A. J. Smith, 1924 - 2004 by
Jack Wyman
The United States and the world soaring community lost a giant in the
history of competition soaring on September 5th 2004, with the passing
of Andrew James Smith. AJ passed away with heart failure at age 80 in
his home in Tecumseh, Michigan. He began soaring in the 1950's with
his close friend...

SN10 Simple Glide Calculator Page questions by
Frank
Hi,
I've been enjoying my SN10B for several years now and really love it.
Recently I have been trying to use the Simple Glide Calculator (SGC)
page to do side calculations during competitions (I used to do this
with my LS4 prayer wheel but gave it to a pilot that had no computer at
all - tried to...

Some gliders safer than others? by
Nicholas L
Are some glider designs much safer than others? Or do certain designs put their pilots at risk for certain types of injuries during a crash?
Looking at the Libelle with the bubble canopy it makes me wonder if the glider flipped on you during a bad landing or crash if the pilot would suffer head/...

Armchair CD U.S. Sports Class Nats by
Mitch
From looking at the sports class nationals scores, And seeing that
their have been only THREE landouts in four days of a 42 glider
NATIONALS, I'm thinking CD McQuigg is not pushing his troops hard
enough at this huge contest. I have heard that he is an ultra-
conservative CD, which is fine for a...

Cambridge 302 Gear/Airbrake Warning - How to Test? by
ContestID67[_2_]
I am in the midst of a project to install a gear/airbrake warning
system on my glider based on the built-in capability of my Cambridge
302. This system is better than the simple "airbrakes open, gear up"
warning system (http://www.wingsandwheels.com/pdf/gear%20warning.pdf)
as it also alerts the...

12v - 12v charger by
5Z
I currently charge the (hard to remove) batteries in my ASH-26E with a
solar panel and charger installed on/in my trailer. During a contest,
the plane may not spend much time in the trailer during daylight hours,
but it does spend most nights in there.
The solution would be to use the solar panel...

Does anyone use the Club Class? by
Pat Russell[_2_]
Does any country run competitions in the IGC Club Class?
USA does not. We have the Sports Class, which allows any glider to
enter, and another Sports Class (called, locally, the Club Class)
which uses a restricted list of gliders that is different from the IGC
Club Class list.
In another thread,...

Silent Skies by
[email protected]
I live in Great Meadows, NJ, about 4 miles northwest of Hackettstown
Airport. This is a nice clear Saturday morning, and usually I would
hear the occasional airplane engine as some SEL passes nearby, even
once in a while the distinctive sound of a radial. But not today.
And why? Because...
