Glass Cockpit in Older Planes by
Charles Talleyrand
Occasionally older airplanes get new panels. Has anyone tried to
build a "glass cockpit" in an older GA airplane? How successful were
you, and what was the biggest stumbling block (paperwork, money, etc?)
In real life I fly a Cessna 150, so it will be a while before I get
the whole Garmin...

Glass panel upgrade to a Turbo Arrow? by
Tauno Voipio
The avionics on a Piper Turbo Arrow (PA28RT201T) are approaching
retirement age.
Does anybody know if there's a glass panel upgrade (a la G1000)
for the Turbo Arrow? Any STC's needed?

Glue and nails by
Mike[_19_]
I'm in the process of rebuilding a wooden aileron spar. The process
involves gluing and nailing 2"x3"x1/16" reinforcing patches to the
spar. I plan on applied glue and clamped the patches in place; when
dry, putting in the nails. What are the nails doing for me and is
hammering in nails after the...

Glue for wing step grippy thingies by
Steven Barnes
A corner of the wing step "tread" is peeling up on my Cherokee 180. Is there
a particular glue or epoxy to use/stay away from? I can just see a big
chemical hole being eaten right through my wing... ;-)
Thanks!

Glue question by
[email protected]
Hello,
I've to replace the rubber seal between the wing and the fuselage.
The problem is that I do not know what glue to use.
My mechanic told me to use Bison Tix, this made me to rise an eyebrow
because I was once being told not to use that stuff because of
corrosion problems.(This was when I was...

GNC-300XL IFR GPS/COM by
Jeff P
Anyone have any experience with the GNC-300XL IFR GPS/COM?
Does it work well? Do you like the user interface? How is the
screen?
I want to have GPS IFR capability in my 172. What else will I have to
install to get IFR cert for this unit?
Thanks,

GNS 430 problem redux by
Kevin Clarke
Hi folks,
As a followup msg, I wrote awhile ago about the poor reception
performance we were getting after out GNS 430 was installed. As a
reminder, TX for COM was fine, GPS was fine and NAV was fine. It was
just the RX of the COM. The RX was working about 25% as well as the
KX-155 as measured...

GNS 430 reception problems by
Kevin Clarke
Hi,
I'm looking for folks that might have a similar experience. Recently
upgraded the panel to include a GNS 430 and replace one of those old
NARCO all in one VOR instruments plus an old NARCO radio.
Anyway great upgrade. The GPS function works wonderfully. Filing /g is
the best. The NAV...

GNS 480 Simulator by

I'm looking at an airplane, Beech M35, that has a 480 already installed.
I downloaded the manual and the simulator. The simulator crashes. I
also noticed that it pushes my CPU up to 100% usage. My computer is a
newer 1.8GHz with more than 2G of ram. I can't find any instructions
on the...

GNS430 vs 480 vs 530 by
pgbnh
Your thoughts please on the relative value of the 430/480/530 units.
Is the 530 worth the extra $5000
Is the larger screen more legible
Does the different (different technology & more pixels)screen in the 530
really make a difference?
Is there real functionalitydifference between 430 and 530?
And...

GNS480 not TSO C146a? by
Dave Butler
Someone on the GNS480 yahoo group posted some text this morning from
Garmin Service Bulletin #621, to the effect that the GNS480 does not
comply with the TSO, and that it reverts to TSO C129 type operations,
for example requiring alternate airports to have ground-based
approaches, having...

GO-300 Gearbox Bearing Source? by
Clay
There is a lack of Continental GO-300 gearbox bearings.
I have heard of an outfit in California that can refurbish these
bearings. Provided the bearings are not in too terrible of condition.
Someone told me something about an International Harvester bearing
which may work. The problem is it is not...
