I was just at a meeting of our club (2 172s, a 182, and a 182RG) where
insurance was discussed. There were also some alumni in the meeting that
own their own aircraft.

I thought it pretty clear that the club is paying far more for insuring an
aircraft than a single owner.

Rental insurance is always going to be higher (3-4X).
But I think you misunderstood him. By "Type Club" he meant an organization
of people who own the same sort of aircraft. Like I am a member of the
American Navion Society ...
