Hello, group I was looking at mounts for my Skymap IIIC GPS I am wanting to
use either a Gimble Mount or a Pedastal Mount for mounting my Skymap IIIC in
my 150M, This will require 3 to 4 small holes to be drilled, Will this type
of mount require a field approval? I Just dont want to buy somthing other
than a yoke mount and not be able to have it installed! I think the yoke
mount is a
bad idea as I want to keep my eyes looking outside rather than inside.

I tried each of these and ended up just getting the RAM mount for the
yoke. The mount is big a bulky and hits my knees. I couldn't figure
out a way to attach the Pedastal mount in my tight Mooney. I've had my
IIIc for several years now and just bought the new Garmin 296 (they
finally got terrain too). I guess I'll be selling the IIIc. The one
thing I liked better about the IIIc were the airway display on the
map. It was sure easy to turn onto an airway in the turb when you
could see it drawn right there on the display. I'll miss that when
going to the Garmin.
