Back in the mid '80's I tried to get started in flying and took a couple

lessons at an airport that I seem to recall went by the name of "Shannon"

something like it.
Of course life, etc got in the way and the flight training got back
burnered
until Feb of this year.
IIRC, it was to the south and west of Philly out beyond West Chester.
Does this ring a bell at all?
It was so long ago, that I have lost that early beginners logbook and I
can't even come up with an airport identifier, sorry.

Shannon airport is now a collection of soccer fields known as the "United
Sports Training Center". Here's some info on it:

To the original poster - you could also check out Brandywine (N99).
They've built several hangars over the past few years. I have no idea as
to the the cost/availability, though.
