Odds and Ends....
Just a few odds and ends.... [bits and pieces just doesn't seem
appropriate for an av newsgroup...]
Sporty's [of which I have no commercial affiliation whatsoever and am
just an av gear wisher, looker and periodic buyer like most av inclined
folks] running a sale on the Richard Collins DVD's [7 DVD's with 27 'Air
Facts' titles] with $75 off the package. Reviews [other than Sporty's]
say the material is good stuff for 'all' ratings. 12 hours of video
inclusive. C-Note for the complete package.
While you're there for 'whatever' , catch that 'human transporter' gizmo
[read: hopped up scooter] that stores in the plane .... albeit for a
cool 5-thou' . Or does the folding bicycle sound more prudent? ;-)
BTW! IF you use Amazon.com for av books....hey....notice that very often
the identical book [recent marketing ploy] is offered right where you
see the book you want although by Amazon.com member vendors...sort of
akin to an Ebay deal. In effect, the prices 'compete' with Amazon and
offer both used and new for a considerably lower price. Thing is, with
this deal, Amazon still gets a cut from the member vendor and that can
add up over time. I think Jeff's idea [read: marketing ploy] is to get
more folks to the website. However, the system 'is' working. He gets a
cut either way and something is better than nothing, yes!?
Be aware though, you only get the free shipping deal [over $25] for
stuff ordered from Amazon itself and 'NOT' the listed vendors who charge
independent shipping...usually set at $3.49 per book BUT if the Amazon
price for example is $24.95 for a particular av book and you see the
same av book for $8.95, hey, you still make on the deal even though you
would have to pay shipping. I picked up more than a few books on IMC
flying and various other GA av titles and had considerable savings using
member vendors. Amazon handles the whole process in one shot however so
you don't have to go bananas dealing with various member vendors who
have the av titles you may want.

Contrary to popular belief, those carbon monoxide tabs do not last [once
opened and exposed to the air] between TBO's! ;-) Seriously now, you
'do' have such CP protection, yes? Tab or that battery operated unit.
What 'lecture', that stuff can kill you!
Saw the piece on the 2003 Piper Meridian TP....VERY nice...anyone have
1.7 mill' and change to give away in a fit of beneficence?
OK..and heading for the short final..so we know that Meigs will be
history...question is....who is [unfortunately] next as the 'security'
clarion makes its stall horn known...so to speak!?
