I've been asked to pick up my grandson's friend in Las Vegas at LAS on
Dec. 26. I'll be motoring down in a C-172SP, strictly VFR. I haven't landed
at LAS since long before they built a terminal -- back when the Hacienda
would send a limo over to pick me up for lunch and take me back to the
plane.
Any suggestions on convenient plaace to meet? Landing Fees? Other
points to consider? I'd rather make the pickup at VGT (North Las Vegas), but
that seems to be nixed.

Henderson (as was pointed out) or VGT are a good option when travelling to
the airport is not a problem. when you have to be close to the strip you
might fly into LAS.
thre are 2 FBOs at LAS, one beeing Signature and I forgot the name of the
other one.
Flying into LAS was a no-brainer, been there with a C172 and a C182.
Handling fee of about $10 was waived when refueling (don't know about your
requirements and your legs outbound of Las Vegas). Signature is on the
south end of the rwy, so if you want there plan your landing accordingly
(long/short landing), same applies for the other FBO. Else it would be a
loooong taxiing. Departing brings you in touch with delivery (then ground,
etc.). So be prepared for that, but not a problem at all.

Flying into LAS is very easy, plan to come in over the dam, over the lake,
and then along the corridor, next left for final :-)

Which airport you take might also be depending of where you come form and
where you are going to.

If it gets too hard, I'll scrub in a New York minute.

what's a NY minute?
