Your log book should have your check ride date and examiners signature

It does. And I still have the original (well, the copy they give to the
applicant) temporary certificate. But it's not that the FAA doesn't
believe me (well, actually, they don't - or at least they don't care).
They require a full data package, including application for certificate,
original (from the DE) of the temporary, original of the knowledge test,
etc.

None of that exists anymore, of course.

Current plan is for me to reconstitute the 8710 form for back when I
took the checkride, try to get a new "original" of the knowledge test
certificate (which has expired), and the other paperwork. Take that to
my my CFI and get him to sign another copy. Then fly over to east Texas
(about 250 nm each way) to get the DE to sign everything. Then if I am
lucky we can mail it all back to OKC.

No, I'm not worried about it all --- YET! But a friend assures me they
know someone this happened to, and she had to take her checkride over
again.

Guess I'll wait a few days before I start practicing those Chandelles
again. Sigh...

BTW, the FSDO suggestion. Turns out my local (75 miles away) FSDO
isn't involved. It's the one 200 miles away that is involved. And they
aren't even taking requests for scheduling visits (no walk-ins, period)
until the alert level goes back down.
