I know what you mean. To *me*, a plane that lands off field ,
well they landed....no major damage to people or property including
the aircraft. But in this case where it was reported that
there was serious damage to the plane, I'd generally say that
was a 'crash' as it was a 'mere arrival' was and the damage was
unintended.
